Coffee & Espresso – Winston Churchill 1 Award Honorees Award Honorees Amato L. Berardi Frank Cymbala Mr. Amato L. Berardi was born in Longano, Italy. In 1970 at the age of 12, he came to the United States with his family. Amato is married with two children, and resides in Huntingdon Valley, PA. Frank Cymbala is married to Lynda, and resides in Lower Gwynedd with their son Nicholas. He is the President and CEO of Communications Services & Support (CSS), a strategic marketing services provider. CSS maximizes diverse in-house resources such as graphics, copywriting, and printing expertise to provide clients with custom solutions that meet their objectives. CSS is a two-time recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s award for the Top 100 Fastest Growing Private Companies. After a successful career as a restaurant owner, Amato turned his ambitions to the financial services industry. In 1983 he founded Berardi & Associates, Inc., a full service insurance, employee benefits and retirement planning agency. Amato is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and recipient of the National Quality Award. Amato is the founder and Chairman of the National Italian American Political Action Committee. He is a member of the Union League of Philadelphia, a member and actively involved with the National Italian American Foundation in Washington, DC. He is the co-founder of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia. On April 10, 2008 Amato was elected as a member of parliament of the Republic of Italy. Mr. Cymbala earned a BS in Accounting from Drexel University in 1982. He serves on the Board of Governors for Drexel’s Alumni Association and is Co-Chair of Community Alumni Network of Drexel University. Mr. Cymbala is also a past President of the Rotary Club of Blue Bell. He is a former board member of the InterFaith Housing Alliance, an organization that provides shelter for the homeless. Frank is a member of the Italian American Chamber of Commerce. Luigi Scotto Mr. Luigie Scotto was born in Rome, Italy on July 2, 1958. Director • 2002 – 2004 Assigned to the National Representation to the Disarmament Conference in Geneva as First Secretary • 2000 – 2002 Assigned to the Italian Embassy in the Ivory Coast (Niger, Liberia, Burkina Faso, Sierra Leone) as Deputy Ambassador • 1997 – 2000 Assigned to the Italian Embassy in Uganda-Rwanda and Burundi as Deputy Ambassador • 1995 – 1996 Assigned to the IX Office of Emigration and Social Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome, Italy Richard L. Krzylzanowski Corporation retired executive vice president, secretary and general counsel; born in Warsaw, Poland. Came to United States in 1966 as a political refugee. Married to Taiko Krzyzanowski; children—Suzanne, Peter, and Christine. Obtained education at University of Warsaw, 1965; L.L.M., University of Pennsylvania, 1967; Ph.D. in Law, University of Paris, 1969; also studied at Italian Universities in Perugia and Torino. Member of PA Bar since 1971. Received highest Orders of Merit from the Coalition of all Ethnic Organizations in the United States, so called “Ellis Island Medal” and the Order of St. Gregory from the Vatican for assistance and work for the Catholic Church. Retired January 7, 2000. Presently corporate consultant to Crown Cork & Seal Company, Inc. whose headquarters are located at One Crown Way, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Calvin Wallsten. Dooley House's doors opened in December of 1989. Dooley House, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to provide a holistic continuum of care to medically fragile infants, children, adults and families with a particular emphasis on those stricken with HIV/AIDS. Through an integral network of support services, we strive to meet the medical, social, educational, housing, and other needs to the ever-changing communities we serve. The common denominator for the diverse range of individuals we care for is to enhance their quality of life by providing a safe haven for personal and family growth, filled with love and rooted in dignity. As of 1997, Dooley House accepts medically fragile children and incorporated various programs such as the Hogan House, Peer Mentors, and Special Medical transportation into their dream to better accommodate the needs of the growing community.
