DAVID W. LURVEY PRESIDENT David Lurvey is the president and founder of D W Lurvey Construction, a firm in Flint, Michigan, specializing in construction and program management. He has 18 years of experience in design, construction and real estate development. Lurvey has delivered, in varying roles, over $400 million of project volume. With sincere client collaboration, he offers the innate ability to define project scope, budget requirements and team assembly for overall project delivery and success. Lurvey’s current projects include the planning, development and construction oversight of several components of Flint's Health and Wellness District, which includes the implosion of the 19 story Genesee Towers Building, and the repurposing of the Flint Journal Press Building into a new Flint Farmers Market and Pavilion. He recently served as the project director of a combined 155,000 square foot historic restoration and athletics/auditorium/cafeteria addition for the Diocese of Lansing, as well as an 115,000 square foot, state-of-the-art school building for the State of Michigan, Department of Education’s, Michigan School for the Deaf. Additionally, he serves as partner/co-founder of Lurvey White Ventures, a Flint, Michigan-based real estate development and management firm. His primary responsibilities include the overview of company operations, marketing and major project delivery. His resume includes a vast range of projects varying in size and complexity, and his ability to adhere to project budgets and schedules is exceptional. He holds membership in various professional organizations supportive of the design and construction industry. He holds Board and strategic positions with local non-profits focused on economic growth, community stabilization and healthcare delivery. As a stakeholder in the continued progression of his hometown, he opened Blackstone’s, an upscale pub, in the heart of downtown, Flint, Michigan, in 2008. This vision continues to serve as a catalyst for the revitalization of the downtown restaurant and entertainment district. Lurvey graduated from Lawrence Technological University where he studied architecture. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Heather, and their two children, Emma and Andrew. The impact of this project on the deaf community was monumental. Keeping in mind the special needs of the deaf for security and accessibility, this project included complete site development, including demolition of existing buildings, and the construction of a new facility using structural steel, masonry and a pre-engineered building, while maintaining the historical Fay Academy building also located on this site. The project also complied with various State of Michigan guidelines. $9,000,000 Powers Catholic High School Flint, Michigan The relocation of a well established high school serving the needs of Genesee County set the bar high for this project. As a design build delivery, our team developed the concept, finance model, estimating and completed the building in a compressed schedule of 12 months. The overall delivery of 150,000 square feet consisted of adaptive reuse of a 100-year-old building, combined with a state-of-the-art commons, media, auditorium and gymnasium addition. $17,000,000 Riverfront Residence Hall Flint, Michigan Renovation of an existing 128,000 square foot hotel and 175,000 square foot convention center to a new convention and student housing complex for local colleges and universities.
