Message from VICE CHANCELLOR
I am happy to know that a series of activities are taking place in BSMED for the benefit of
the students. It is an appreciable move to involve students to start the campus corporate
with the help of the faculty and alumni. This would give them a feel of real time experience
and relate themselves with the live projects. I place my appreciation on record for
involving in one of the first time events using flash mob as a method of research endeavor.
The topic for the AXIS '11 convention, the arrangements and the distinguished speakers,
portray the professional approach of BSMED. Any such professional approach should be
converted into opportunities for further growth. Hope, BSMED would convert this
opportunity given to them from the university to secure multiple placements for the
outgoing students. It would be meaningful if such kind of visibility is created among
corporate and greater number of placements is secured. I am sure that these activities could
have shaped up AXIS '11 significantly. I wish BSMED to go in the next higher level in their
professional competence. I wish a prosperous New Year to bring home laurels.

The AXIS '11 is one of the memorable events. The event is marked with flash mob
survey (first of its kind) carried out by Kurundam, a registered campus company
(first of its kind among the peers), the distinguished speakers who shared their
experiences on Value based ethical leadership, a visit to TESCO and Metro cash and
carry, Bangalore. The flash mob survey attracted all the members around. All the
210 students from BSMED pushed themselves in to the Namma metro (Bangalore
Metro Rail) and got down in two different places and completed 2109 survey
responses from the members who are working in the IT corridors of Bangalore, for
an online company namely Home Shikari. It was nice to see the enthusiasm shown
by the students and their participation during the convention at the Windsor Manor
Hotel Boutique Hall, Bangalore, and their networking as well as interaction in the
places they visited in Bangalore. I wish such activities to continue.
The tradition of BSMED and the innovative culture imbibed and cherished by BSMED would further expand its
horizon. I would be failing in my duties and responsibilities if I do not whole heartedly thank the Vice Chancellor
for his gracious grant of new facilities as well as the encouragement to carry out the creative endeavors. The
university administration especially the Registrar and his team need to be complimented for all the support and
encouragement given to this school. I wish all the very best during 2012 for the students, alumni, faculty, corporate
and all stake holders of BSMED - wishing you a happy and prosperous new year.

flash mob
Inaugural Address
A team of 200 students of Bharathiar School of Management and Entrepreneur Development (BSMED) conducted a flash
survey covering 2109 IT professionals on Monday, 19th Dec 2011 at the ITPL, Whitefield area and the Bagmane Tech Park,
C.V.Raman Nagar area between 5-6 p.m.
The event is historic because nowhere in the world such a huge market survey was conducted in a flash mob technique.
Flash mob is used for variety of networking and social purposes. But for the first time it was used to carry out an empirical
research.
The initiative came from the first registered 'Campus Company' in the country Kurundam Management Services (KMS) for
a Bangalore based online home- search service called Home Shikari.
People coming out of Bagmane and ITPL were taken aback when a large group of students all dressed similarly in black tshirts and jeans descended upon them trying to ask them questions on their preferences in renting out or buying a property.
A few were awry of answering the questions but most people were curious on what's happening and they were keen to
participate in the survey.
TTK Group has launched HomeShikari in Bangalore and it aims to change the way people search for homes. HomeShikari
strives to bring transparency to the Indian Real Estate market and improve the way customers interact for their property
requirements. The services will provide the required information and other allied services at the click of a mouse, thus
saving a lot of time.
“As a forerunner in Management Education we wanted to make use the latest of marketing concepts, so we used the
concept of a Flash Mob for doing a survey for one of our corporates here in Bangalore. I am happy to note that this
mammoth survey was also the first project taken by our Campus Venture Kurundam Management Services Pvt. Ltd.,
which is the first registered Campus Company in India which is run by the students with support from the Alumni and the
Faculty “ , said Dr.R.Venkatapathy, Director, BSMED.
BSMED believes in excellence that originates from creativity, enterprise and industry. It provides an all-encompassing
curriculum that has a prudent mix of management theory and practice and enables students to face the corporate
world in good stride and the world's first ever flash survey was conducted by BSMEDians.

BSMED
Prof.R Venkatapathy in his inaugural address outlined the influence created by the teachers and a few mentors in the early
years changed the destiny of several students in the later part of their career. He emphasized that any three significant
persons influenced any one's life would never be billionaires or great people who owned wealth or people who amassed
wealth using unfair means. However all those created such an impact were people who valued the ethical considerations

the individual value system and the extent the system is nurtured.
