Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill: A new level of efficiency
N e w s f r o m t h e d e n t a l w o r l d b y I v o c l a r Vi v a d e n t update 03|2011 Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill: A new level of efficiency ® In this issue: Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill A new level of efficiency Power Saving Technology Saving energy made easy Proxyt® Next Generation Even more effective and gentle A new level of efficiency in posterior tooth restoration: The time-tested Tetric EvoCeram® composite has been further developed on the basis of this premise. COMPETENCE IN COMPOSITES Tetric EvoCeram® Bulk Fill is a mouldable, light-curing and radiopaque nano-hybrid composite which enables increments of up to 4 mm to be placed. A final composite layer is not required. With only three universal shades that demonstrate excellent shade adaptation – IVA (between A2 and A3), IVB (between B1 and B2), IVW (white, e.g. for deciduous teeth) – shade selection is made easy. This innovative product is the result of the targeted further development of Tetric EvoCeram. Further development of a time-tested material Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill incorporates a light sensitivity inhibitor which acts as a shield against ambient light (e.g. operatory light). Consequently, sufficient time is available to sculpt and contour the restoration. Moreover, a patented polymerization booster has been added to the standard initiator system which allows 4-mm thick material increments to be completely cured in short polymerization cycles. As a result of the special, patented layered silicates contained in the material, Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill has a smooth consistency. Consequently, it is easy to sculpt and contour and it readily adapts to cavity walls. In addition, a shrinkage stress reliever keeps shrinkage and shrinkage stress as low as possible during polymerization. The filler technology of the clinically proven Tetric EvoCeram has also been used in Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill. As a result, the material polishes quickly and easily and demonstrates high stability. Unlike flowable bulk fill materials, Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill does not have to be covered with an additional layer of different composite. If desired, it can of course be used in conjunction with Tetric EvoFlow. Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill – the bulk composite without compromises which ensures a new level of efficiency in posterior tooth restoration. One filling: Teeth are filled and contoured without requiring a final layer. One material: The composite’s smooth consistency enhances adaptation. One increment: The 4-mm bulk increment technique streamlines filling procedures. Two delivery forms, a strong result: Tetric EvoCeram Bulk Fill. Editorial Helioseal F ® New syringe design provides additional benefits The delivery form of Helioseal F fissure sealant has been optimized. The new design enables the sealant to be dispensed and applied more easily. Dear Reader You rely on clinically proven products. They enable you to achieve successful and predictable results every time and all the time and they help you to streamline the routine procedures in your dental laboratory or practice and therefore heighten your productivity. In this edition of Update, we will introduce you to additional innovations which are based on these principles. For example, Tetric EvoCeram is now also available in a Bulk Fill version. This new resin composite can be placed in increments of up to 4-mm thickness – without needing an additional covering layer made with another material. The success story of IPS e.max esthetics continues to unfold: As a result of the growing demand for our all-ceramics, our “Authorized Milling Partner” program now includes nine centres. ® You, too, can take action by choosing to use energy-saving, environmentally friendly equipment, for example, our Programat® ceramic and press furnaces. The ergonomically shaped syringe of the clinically proven fissure sealant Helioseal F is very comfortable to hold. Furthermore, it allows the sealant to be dispensed and applied even more accurately in pits, fissures and foramina caeca. Fissures in general are susceptible to caries. Because of their intricate structure, however, they are difficult to clean and therefore provide bacterial plaque with ideal growing conditions. Sealing with Helioseal F protects these at-risk areas. Helioseal F is based on many years of clinical experience. The sealant’s effectiveness in protecting deciduous and permanent teeth against caries has been clearly confirmed. The product readily flows into fissures and completely covers and seals them. The sealant bonds tightly with enamel and therefore ensures long-lasting retention and impenetrable sealing of pits and fissures. Excellent wear resistance additionally characterizes the sealant. Helioseal F is a component of the iKids program, which offers professional solutions for customized oral health management in children and adolescents. The i-Kids program comprises all the products needed for effective fissure sealing. Read more about these and other topics in this edition of Update or contact us at your convenience. Power Saving Technology: Saving energy made easy Efficient use of energy and responsible use of valuable resources – this is the basic principle behind the Power Saving Technology concept. This technology renders Programat® furnaces even more efficient and economical. Cars, TVs, fridges and other appliances are becoming increasingly efficient and economical. This trend has not gone unnoticed at Ivoclar Vivadent. Therefore, Ivoclar Vivadent has been issuing the Power Saving Technology label to those appliances which meet at least one of the following criteria: • The appliance consumes less power than the comparable predecessor model. • The appliance is equipped with innovative mechanisms or functions which help to reduce power consumption. • The appliance has an integrated energy saving mode or a key to activate this mode. For you, Power Saving Technology means (depending on the model you use): • Power consumption reduced by 40% in the stand-by mode due to software-controlled energy saving function. • Saving energy at the push of a button: Simply tap the “Power Saving” key and the furnace switches to the power saving mode. • Innovative vacuum control reduces power consumption by up to 80 watt. • The double-valve technology allows the vacuum pump to be immediately switched off when the desired vacuum has been achieved. • Intelligent Press Function (IPF) saves up to 45% of time required for pressing. A shorter press cycle equals lower energy consumption. • Innovative sintering process saves up to 60% on energy use. The Programat S1 reduces the time required for sintering from between 5 and 7 hours to just 90 minutes. Compared with the predecessor Sintramat, up to 2,450 watt can be saved in each sintering cycle. The following Programat® furnaces are already equipped with Power Saving Technology: P300/G2, P500/G2, P700/G2, EP 3000/G2, EP 5000/G2, S1. Navigating the realm of cementation Coming soon: Cementation Navigation System in the iTunes App Store CNS In March 2011, the Cementation Navigation System (CNS) was presented for the first time at the International Dental Show. This multimedia application from Ivoclar Vivadent offers dentists practical orientation and guidance in the selection of the best luting material for each case. In the meantime, it has become very popular. The more than 25,000 DVDs that have been distributed and over 300,000 visits to the website are testimony to the considerable interest shown by users. Recently, the initial version has been complemented with a “Cementation on implant abutments” section. Thus CNS is a valuable planning aid for all types of cementation scenarios. All the cementation procedures that can be conducted with Ivoclar Vivadent luting materials are explained in detail by means of 230 animations. Those who wish to gain an overview of the cementation options while on the road or during short breaks will be able to download CNS from the iTunes App Store shortly. www.cementation-navigation.com Multilink Automix convinces users ® Top marks for adhesive luting composite How satisfied are you with Multilink® Automix? These blocks are mainly used to fabricate (thin) veneers as well as partial and single crowns. The suitable block can be selected depending on the preferred fabrication technique (staining or cut-back technique) and the individual patient situation at hand. Value blocks: various brightness values The Value blocks feature different brightness values: 1 is the lowest and 3 the highest. This allows optimum integration of the restoration into the intraoral situation. Due to their unique opalescence and strength, the Opal blocks can be used as an “enamel replacement”. As a result of the opalescence inherent to the material, highly esthetic and minimally invasive restorations – thin veneers in particular – can be fabricated. The appropriate Opal blocks are selected on the basis of the shade of the enamel of the natural tooth. The new IPS e.max CAD Impulse blocks: three Value and two Opal shades. Thin veneers made of IPS e.max CAD Impluse Opal material COMPETENCE IN IMPLANT ESTHETICS Proxyt Next Generation ® The new Proxyt® pastes clean even more gently and effectively thanks to their optimized consistency. They offer ideal care for high-quality restorations. The new Proxyt pastes are suitable for the needs-oriented, professional cleaning and polishing of teeth, restorations and implant work. Due to their optimized consistency, Proxyt pastes enable even more effective cleaning and polishing. Unnecessary abrasion of tooth structure and roughening of restoration surfaces is prevented. Three different grit sizes (RDA) are available. The fine-, medium- and coarse-grit Proxyt pastes contain fluoride. Additionally, a fluoride-free version of the medium-grit paste is available which does not have any flavouring. All the different paste versions contain xylitol, which inhibits the growth of bacteria that cause caries. The fine Proxyt paste does not contain pumice und thus cleans implants and the sensitive peri-implant tissue particularly gently. Regular care with this fine prophy paste ensures that restorations and ceramic reconstructions retain their natural-looking shine. Finding alloys the easy way Considering the overwhelming range of available products, finding the optimum alloy for a given case is not always easy. The new Alloy Configurator is a practical tool to help you accomplish this task. The Alloy Configurator is a web-based application that combines a variety of functions. With this tool, you can search for alloys according to different criteria, for instance, an indication, composition and specific metals as well as colour. In accordance with these criteria, the results will be displayed including detailed alloy reports. For frameworks with good stability Colado NC is a nickel-chromium ceramic alloy which is especially economical due to its composition. The alloy is very easy to process and is characterized by its very light oxide. This fa- cilitates the creation of an appropriate shade effect in veneers. Given Colado NC’s high strength values, dental technicians can fabricate delicate frameworks with a suitable stability. Alloy Configurator As a unique, innovative feature, the Alloy Configurator is equipped with an “actual cost calculator”. With this function, alloys can be compared with each other not only on the basis of the retail price but also with regard to their density, which is an important factor influencing the amount of material needed and thus also the costs. To determine the actual costs of an alloy, this aspect must also be taken into account. The Alloy Configurator also includes the two latest additions to Ivoclar Vivadent’s alloy range: Callisto® Implant 33 and Colado® NC, which have been specifically developed with the economic efficiency of dental labs in mind. For implant superstructures Callisto Implant 33 is a cost-effective, lowdensity reduced-gold alloy. Given its composition and physical properties, this palladium-containing ceramic alloy is suitable for all types of long-span restorations, and particularly for implant superstructures.
