ABOUT JEAN YIP ACADEMY
The Jean Yip Academy, a division of the Jean Yip Group, was founded in the year
2000. It is the only academy in Singapore with both Hair & Beauty certification accredited
by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) of Singapore. Jean Yip Academy has been
awarded the COJTC (Certified On the Job Training Center) and Nitec Approved Training
Provider status by the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) in Singapore.
It was established by the 3 icons of the grooming industry namely; Ms Jean Yip,
Chairman, Mr. Mervin Wee, and Ms Dawn Yip, with the objective of sharing their experience
with anyone with the right aptitude and attitude to develop into a top-of-line Hairstylist or

teaching experience, they develop and deliver quality training programs for the industry.
The Jean Yip Academy is an Approved Training Provider of the Institute of Technical
Education (ITE) Singapore, not only for the Nitec in Hairstyling but also for the Nitec in Spa
and Aesthetic Therapy. In addition to these two main courses, the Jean Yip Academy offers
a host of other certificate and diploma courses.
The Jean Yip Group is one of the leading hair and beauty salons in Singapore. It is
one of biggest sponsors of Hair, Beauty and Talent shows in Singapore. In all instances it
allows its students to participate in these shows so that the creative parts of Hairstyling can
be better enhanced.
The emphasis at the Jean Yip Academy is on “Quality Training”. As such it employs
state-of-art techniques and equipment to conduct training. It provides a salon environment
for training so that upon graduation, graduates will be able to start work immediately in any
salon at home and abroad. The trainers that we have employed have many years of both

5.2 ESTIMATED COST OF LIVING IN SINGAPORE
These figures are based on the average spending by students at JEAN YIP ACADEMY.
The actual cost will depend on the lifestyle that the student wishes to enjoy.
It is our advice that students should have additional funds at their disposal in case of
emergency. Students should also not expect to get any funds from employment in
Singapore. Working in Singapore is illegal while on a "student visa" and will result in
prosecution as well as deportment. Students are advised not to depend on their
Immigration Security Deposits for travel return tickets and should have sufficient additional
funds.
