ri Lanka, the resplendent island in the Indian Ocean, has a long and a product history of manufacturing Artisan products. Sri Lanka’s inherent craftsmanship, creative and innovative skills, cultural diversity and rich natural resources provide the base for a wide range of giftware and artisan
products that satisfy quality conscious and astute buyers.
The diversified raw material base for products includes textile, wood, rush and reed, recycled paper,
leather, metal, stone, clay and several other eco- friendly materials. The range of products includes
soft and wooden toys, handmade stationary, household accessories, fashion accessories, home decoration, home textiles, table tops, costume jewellery amongst others.
Talented artisans turn out innovative products based on their own creative designs, and alternatively
turn out customised designs given by buyers at internationally competitive prices. As with many
industries in Sri Lanka, modern trends are observed and inculcated into producing Artisan products
mixing the best of international fashionable trends with South East Asian beauty and utility.
All products conform to international Safety and Quality Standards such as EN 71, ASTM and CE.
Sri Lanka is a signatory to all UN and ILO conventions and pays particular regard to sustainability
and ethical manufacturing whilst maintain high quality and exclusivity.
There will be 8 companies, including a “Fair Trade” certified company, exhibiting at the Sri Lanka
Pavilion located in “Artisan Resource” section; Stand No. 1271.

All products manufactured by Lanktrad International (Pvt) Ltd, are environment
friendly. Only natural fibres -sisal, jute, coco and palmyrah - are used along with cotton,
wooden knobs and wooden handles in the manufacturing process. Sisal and jute fibre body
massage brushes are made on corrosion resistant stainless steel wire while the coco fibre
and palmyrah fibre brushes are twisted on galvanised iron wires.
All products are made manually using very simple locally made machines thus providing
employment for as many as possible.
