Anti-Bullying Assembly
On Monday, February 25th, Strath Haven Middle School invited Carvin Haggins, a Grammy
award winning song writer, and BriaMarie Wilkerson, an up and coming Pop, Hip Hop and
R&B vocalist, to present their entertaining anti-bullying program. Mr. Haggins and BriaMarie spoke to all of the 6th, 7th & 8th graders about bullying; what it is, how to prevent it,
and what to do if it happens to you or someone you know. Also, the students enjoyed the
oratorical talent of Mr. Haggins and the singing of BriaMarie, while hearing the very clear
message that - “bullying is not cool, neither is having to be in the cool crowd, just be who you
are.” Follow-up discussions about bullying were held in Connections later in the day.

Students had a wonderful day attending the PMEA 5/6 BandFest at Chichester Middle School. It was a
musically rewarding experience!
The SHHS counselors are hosting a financial aid night for families in our community. The event will take place on
March 7, 2013, at 7:00 PM in the high school library. All families in the district are invited and encouraged to attend.
Financial aid representatives from Villanova, Temple, and Delaware County Community College will be present to
talk about the financial aid process, how to apply, deadlines, loan and grant eligibility, as well as availability. An advisor from Franklin Mint Credit Union will also be speaking about saving for college and student loan options. There
be a parent Q and A session to ensure that all questions are answered.
