The USA International Ballet Competition is a two
week “Olympic-style” competition where tomorrow’s
ballet stars vie for gold, silver and bronze medals. They
are currently looking for volunteers to monitor
rehearsal hall sites. This is a wonderful opportunity for
a dance lover who is 16 years or older to have a private
audience with some of the most magnificent dancers in
the world. If you would like more information contact
Madeline Katool at [email protected] or
601-899-8934.
Adorers are Needed
Looking for some quiet time? Adoration may be your

Hospice Ministries
Hospice Ministries, a community based, not-for-profit
organization, is looking for caring individuals who
would like to offer help to our terminally ill patients and
their families. The core of the hospice philosophy is that
each person has the right to die free of pain and with
dignity. Trained hospice volunteers support the work
of our caring professionals in providing this quality of
care, by offering emotional and administrative support
along to our patients and their families. There is an upcoming free training course that will run from Friday
June 20th through Sunday June 22nd. For more information contact Jeri Flinn at 601-898-1053.
SAINT RICHARD CATHOLIC
SCHOOL CORNER
WHAT OUR ST. RICHARD CATHOLIC SCHOOL
PARENTS ARE SAYING...
“Our daughter has been at St. Richard since K-3, and
we are constantly amazed by the quality of education
she has received. The integration of arts into daily
learning is a large step above other schools' curricula.
The school's House System adds to students' education,
as it makes them accountable for their actions and
builds character. And as parents we enjoy having a
smaller school where all of the adults care for the children's growth in education and spirituality.”

New Summer Book Study
George Evans will facilitate a new five week summer book
study on Pope Francis’ Encyclical, Evangelii Gaudium, The
Joy of the Gospel, beginning Wednesday, June 18th and continuing each Wednesday until July 16th. We will meet in the
Conference Room from 6:30—8:00 p.m. This is a wonderful
read (not difficult like most encyclicals) and captures Pope
Francis’ vision of his papacy and the Church. Please let
George know if you will participate by calling him at 601-3662335 or email [email protected] as soon as possible.
Books are $5 each and are available in the church office.
$-A-Month Club
Please remember the $-A-Month
Club when you are shopping. Pick up
an extra dollar (or two) worth of nonperishable food items. The items will
be distributed to Deliver Me Seniors
and The Good Samaritan Center.
Both organizations use donations to
feed the elderly. Donations can be
dropped off anytime at the church.
Place them in the large trash can at
the entrance of the church.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
Please make plans to join us Sunday, June 29th on the St. Richard Football Field for
our annual “Independence Day Celebration”. The festivities will begin at 6:00 pm.
The St. Richard's Knights of Columbus will have food, soft drinks, and snow cones
available for purchase. Patrick Harkins will provide the musical entertainment, and
Bobby Moorehead and the pyrotechnic crew will give us the best fireworks extravaganza.
Invite your friends, neighbors, and bring the grandchildren, because we will have Taylor's Ponies once
again this year. Don't forget a comfortable lawn chair and your favorite dessert to share.
Carve your name on hearts
A good character is the best tombstone. Those who loved you and
were helped by you will remember you when the forget-me-nots
are withered. Carve your name on hearts, and not on marble.
Charles H. Spurgeon
Vacation Bible School 2014 “Son Treasure Island”
VBS was a great success due in no small part to the generosity of our volunteers who have helped in so
many ways. In living out the Gospel call to be disciples, these individuals helped bring joy and worship
to over 130 children. THANK YOU to all who helped, plan, decorate, lead, teach, sing, dance, supervise,
run errands, praise and pray!
Special thanks to Kim Turner, Bill Dunning, Emily Decker, Ebony Welch, Shannon Lyle, Christine
