Go to Benalmadena and walk to the cable car for a fantastic 15 minute ride to the top of
the Calamorro mountain. At the top you have a spectacular view over the Costa del Sol,
on clear days even all the way to Africa. You can watch birds of prey, walk along paths to

Antonio Banderas, Tony Blair, Rafael Nadal - they've all visited El Pimpi which means you
can find photos and autographs of celebrities everywhere in this tapas bar – the most
famous one in Malaga. Even if you don´t want to eat or drink anything you have to just
walk in. The entrance is at the shopping street and the exit is at the Roman theatre (or
vice versa). You more or less follow a corridor and on the way you will stumble upon

Wine tasting and tour of the vineyard

Monda is a nice little mountain village. Several years ago Marjolijn Brouwer and René
Mooijman (both Dutch but speak English) built their own vineyard on the outskirts of this
town, growing Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. They now make the
most delicious (and affordable) biological wines. A wine tasting plus tour of the vineyard
only costs € 7.50 per person.

Gibralfaro castle
Gibralfaro castle is situated next to the Alcazaba in the centre of Malaga. It´s a bit of a
climb to get there, especially when it is hot, but at the top you will be rewarded with
stunning views over Malaga, the harbour and the coastline of the Costa del Sol. In the
castle you can visit a small museum and after your visit you can enjoy a refreshing drink
and superb sea views on the terrace of the luxury five star hotel ‘Parador de Málaga

Market and Alhaurin El Grande
On Thursday morning is in Alhaurin El Grande (La Fama) is on the market, at the bottom
of the village, at the small square and the bus station. There are many stalls with clothes,

The sights in Alhaurin are the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación (our Lady's
Church), Casa Consistorial (Town Hall) and the Ermita de San Sebastián, the Ermita de la
Santa Vera Cruz. Also worth mentioning is the el Molino Morisco "Los Corchos", which is
still in excellent condition and is still in operation as it did in Islamic times.

Pueblo Blanco in Torremolinos
Pueblo Blanco is a small, typically Spanish area in Torremolinos sandwiched between the
streets Calle Casablanca and Calle Skal. It’s hard to see from the street side so you´ll
walk right past it if you don´t know it's there. Note the black sign - and you will enter a
small square full of bars and restaurants. It is only a five minute walk from our apartment!

Torremolinos beaches
The 7 kilometre (!!) long Torremolinos promenade stretches from Malaga to
Benalmadena. The entire coastline consists of a wide sandy beach which is divided into
six parts: Los Alamos, Playamar, Bajondillo (the beach closest to our apartment), La
Carihuela, Montemar and El Saltillo. Enough space for your sun lounger!

A day at sea for some deep sea fishing or dolphin watching? You can do both from the
harbours of neighbouring village Benalmadena or Fuengirola (situated a little further

Alcazaba
This fort was built in the 11th century by the Moors as a palace for the governors of the
city. You can enjoy gardens, fountains, ruins of a Roman theatre from the 2nd century and

Málaga Cathedral
Don´t miss the cathedral during your visit to Malaga. The construction began in 1528 on
the foundations of an ancient mosque. In 1782 the construction stopped, while the right
tower was not yet finished. Malagueños therefore call the cathedral ‘La Manquita’ (the
