Hello Readers,
Daytona Bike Week Already??? It must be
that we are getting older, Bike Week seems to
arrive sooner every year. I remember as a
teenager on my sporty heading over to my
first bike week. Not giving away my age I can
tell you most of the event took place on Main
Street. OH! How times have changed. Main
Street could not begin to handle the amount
of bikes that show up now.
This issue is loaded with great information for
those of you who are here for Daytona
Bikeweek. We hope you return next month for
Leesburg Bikefest...see page 22. Don’t miss
the parties at Boot Hill see page 57 and Fox
Head Lounge see page 29.

Green Bag Sale ad on page 7 and Stormy Hill
Harley-Davidson’s Green Bag sale on page 21.
Darn good deal with 20% off on Licensed
Products...it all you can stuff in a bag.
We wish there was some kind of advise we
could give all you riders that would keep you
safe during Daytona Bikeweek. It seems it
never fails lives are lost. I remember a few
years ago a couple lost their lives because
they failed to check the tire pressure when
arriving to Florida. If you have had to much to
drink...Park It! Slow down and be smart
watching left...right...behind you at all times.
We want to see you all come back for years to
come.

Citation Medal Of Honor
For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty while
serving as a rifleman with Company F, in action against enemy aggressor forces. When all the other
members of his fire team became casualties, creating a gap in the lines, during the initial phase of a vicious attack launched by a fanatical enemy of regimental strength against his company's hill position,
Pvt. Cafferata waged a lone battle with grenades and rifle fire as the attack gained momentum and the
enemy threatened penetration through the gap and endangered the integrity of the entire defensive perimeter. Making a target of himself under the devastating fire from automatic weapons, rifles, grenades,
and mortars, he maneuvered up and down the line and delivered accurate and effective fire against the
onrushing force, killing 15, wounding many more, and forcing the others to withdraw so that reinforcements could move up and consolidate the position. Again fighting desperately against a renewed onslaught later that same morning when a hostile grenade landed in a shallow entrenchment occupied by
wounded marines, Pvt. Cafferata rushed into the gully under heavy fire, seized the deadly missile in his
right hand and hurled it free of his comrades before it detonated, severing part of 1 finger and seriously
wounding him in the right hand and arm. Courageously ignoring the intense pain, he staunchly fought on
until he was struck by a sniper's bullet and forced to submit to evacuation for medical treatment Stouthearted and indomitable, Pvt. Cafferata, by his fortitude, great personal valor, and dauntless perseverance in the face of almost certain death, saved the lives of several of his fellow marines and contributed
essentially to the success achieved by his company in maintaining its defensive position against tremendous odds. His extraordinary heroism throughout was in keeping with the highest traditions of the U.S.
Naval Service.

Get Ready To Party! Pictures From Bikefest 2015
The 20th Annual Leesburg Bikefest known as the
largest three day biker event in the U.S.A. runs
from April 22nd—24th this year. For those of you
reading this article from out of the Great State of
Florida this event is the party you have been missing out on...no doubt the planning of this event has
taken the Leesburg Partnership over a year. That’s
right...even before the 19th Annual Leesburg Bikefest was over planning was in the making for this
event. The event founder Joe Shipes has put his
heart into this Lake County event like no other
event that takes place in the county, every room
available is sold out months even years in advance,
however there is plenty of camping just go to
www.leesburgbikefest.com for more information.
This is a non-stop party that takes place on about
four major streets in Leesburg. Over 250 vendors,
80 concerts, four of them Headliners such as Bret
Michaels, Everclear and Molly Hatchet...there is 12
venues such as the world famous Rat’s Hole Bike
Show along with four Hot Body Contests and my
big hit is the Miss Leesburg Bikefest competition,
you will see some of the prettiest girls in the world.
Another reason this event draws so many riders is
12
the local police department...they are not nit picky
about ever stinking little thing that goes on...you
really have to screw up big time to get a ticket at
this event...it is all about a wonderful city opening
their doors to bikers. We hope you join in on this
fantastic party...there in nothing like it anywhere in
the U.S.A. Hark...More pictures pages 13, 14,

THE ICONIC BARS OF BIKE WEEK
Bike Week 2016. The 75th Anniversary. The Big Rally. Predicted to be the biggest of all time with record crowds. So
you've been eagerly anticipating it's arrival, you made
your plans, and you're finally here. So now what do you
do?
Well, if you've never been to Bike Week before, I don't
want to disappoint you but this ain't no Sturgis. You're
not going to find hundreds of miles of great scenic riding
here and there sure won't be any headline worthy, A-list
bands.
You didn't come all this way for nothing. I'm sure you
want to have a good time, get in some riding, buy some
stuff, hear some music. But before you know it, you've
ridden ―The Loop‖ three times, bought a years supply of
4 for $10 t-shirts, and heard the cover bands play the
same songs a dozen times - now what? Bike Week is ten
days long, what are you going to do for the other nine
days?
6.
Main Street Station – You probably already
guessed from the name – another Main Street bar. Next
to Boot Hill. Hasn't been around as long as some of the
others, but their claim to fame is that the building used
to be the gas station and garage of NASCAR founder Bill
France Sr.
7.
Foxhead Lounge - ―Where Good Friends Meet‖.
Oldest liquor license in Volusia County. Way south on
415, about a dozen miles past Cabbage Patch, but well
worth the ride. A bike ride through Central Florida just
isn't complete without a stop at the Foxhead. Loretta's
world famous Bloody Mary's are worth the trip alone –
and they're always on special during Bike Week!
8.
Froggy's Saloon – Another Main Street tradition. ―You can't drink all day unless you start in the morning!‖ Opens at 7:00 AM and a parking lot full of go-go
dancers out back – what more could you ask for?
9.
Cheyenne Saloon – Nice, scenic day trip north
on US17 to East Palatka. Long time biker bar – don't
know how long it's been there, but there's an old, rusted
out Honda chained to a post out front with a sign that
says it's been there since Bike Week 1967!
10.
No Name Saloon – Long time destination bar
south of New Smyrna Beach that was closed for a while
but was resurrected pretty much without missing a beat.
I'll let you in on a little, not so well kept secret, even
though it's ―Bike‖ Week, Bike Week in Daytona is really
all about the party. It's about the partying and the drinking and the bars. It's what we do. So where do you go? It The Others, the Wannabe's and the Gone but not
just so happens that I'm here to help. So, without any Forgotten's:

Last Resort – South on US1, this is a true biker
bar that hasn't changed much at all through the years. If -BRAD
you remember the serial killer Aileen Wuornos from the
movie Monster, this is where they caught her, and some
of the scenes from the movie were filmed here (even got
some friends that were in the movie). Don't miss the rice
burner ―hanging tree‖ out back.
5.
Dirty Harry's – Another Main Street institution.
The unofficial Bike Week home of Florida biker favorite
The Bobby Friss Band. Probably the only place that has a
daily wet t-shirt contest. Don't get too excited though,
wet t-shirts are all you're going to see here - all hell
breaks loose in Daytona Beach if a real live nipple actually breaks free!

Flag Ceremony for Colonel Oscar Mauterer MIA
On this day, February 15, 2016 50 years ago while
on a mission the Colonels plane caught on fire and
he was forced to bail out and while all attempts by
rescue helicopters to find him failed due to the constant fire power of enemy ground forces they were
un-able to make the rescue and he has never been
heard from since, so today the Rolling Thunder
Chapters put together a special flag ceremony for
him. There were several veteran groups in participation as well as a former WWII POW, the wife of a
recently passed WWII POW and the Colonel’s daughter Pam who was 12 years old when they received
the news of her father’s plane going down. The ceremony was hosted by Ocala’s PDQ restaurant. Charlie who is in charge there granted free lunch to all
that were there to participate, now not only does his
business fly the American flag but also the POW MIA
flag as well, presented to him by Rolling Thunder.
Pam was presented with a POW MIA flag that was
signed by everyone present. This was an honor for
me to represent Rebel Rider Magazine at the ceremony. God bless America, and all who made the ultimate sacrifice, NEVER FORGET.

Chili Day At Chelle’s Softail Saloon
Myself and some friends go deer
hunting in Wisconsin every year.
Each year I try to do something so
others can enjoy the wonderful flavor of Wisconsin Venison. A few
years we did BBQ’s, then last year
I started doing what is called Wisconsin Chili...which has no beans
in it...we use elbow macaroni...the
key is not letting the macaroni get
to well done...you know how this
stuff is when it gets large and ugly
lookin...anyway...we had one heck
of a turn out. Pictures on this page

great stuff at great prices and this truly is a biker owned and operated business..... I keep tellin' ya' you need to make plans for
the 5th Annual Proud to be an American Bikefest, May 20, 21 &
22. This place next to Renningers in Mt. Dora is one of the best
camping spots around. And this ain't no downtown, kids in
strollers bike rally, this is an old school, 21 and up biker party.....
Last but definitely not least – we're starting to see band announcements for the Leesburg Bikefest. Three days of bikes,
beer and music in one of the friendliest cities around. So how
can Leesburg cram more great live music into three days than
Daytona can get into ten whole days?..... That's it for now –
heading to Foxhead for a Bloody Mary and then it's off to Bike
Week! Until next month you know where I'll be, I'll be out there
riding the back roads and bar stools of Central Florida!
Bike Week is finally here, the 75th Anniversary edition. All indications are that this is going to be a huge year with record
crowds. Besides all the fun, that means lots of traffic, lots of
impatient drivers in cars, lots of new riders with little experience, and it seems like more and more every year – a-hole riders
that don't know how to ride with respect for others. Please be
careful out there – I don't have that many readers, I sure don't
want to lose any..... Before you get all carried away in the fun of
Bike Week, don't forget about the Sam Swope Ride. It's on Sunday, March 6th, and it benefits the Shriners Hospital for Children
in Tampa. One of the biggest rides of the year.
www.samswopecharityride.org..... Everybody talks about buying
local and supporting the biker community, so why not make an
effort this month to back that up and head over to the Biker Consignment shop on Fairbanks in Winter Park? Great people with

Roaming in the Rain
From Softails and Knuckle Heads to War Horse Harley-Davidson the light drizzle got worse and worse.
Our good friend Delbert Britton and his band The
Country Hustlers were playing at War Horse Harley
Davidson on that rainy Saturday. It was cloudy and
overcast as I arrived then shortly after the rain
started to set in so I decided to head to the house
before it got worse and I was glad I did because it
rained almost 3‖ before the day was over but I was
able to get a few pictures. I hope the up-coming
week-end will be better weather.
