Lombardy (Lombardia) is one of the wealthiest Italian regions
known as the centre of Italian fashion, commerce, and industry.
PAVIA
Pavia is a city in Lombardy, a region in the North of
Italy. Pavia with its 71.486 inhabitants is a very old,
historical city.
Pavia is 35 km far from Milan. The city sits on the
banks of the Ticino River.

over the Ticino
Near Pavia, the Ticino River flows into the Po.
Pavia, known as Ticinum in Roman times, was an
important stronghold of the Empire and later it
became the capital of the Longobard kings.
Pavia is a university city with fine Romanesque and
medieval buildings and an interesting old town
centre.
Pavia is known as the city of 100 towers even if only a
few of them remain intact today.
The Visconti Castle was built for Gian Galeazzo Visconti.

It is one of the oldest
university in Italy.
The Cathedral houses
Christ’s Crown Thorns.
The Broletto Palace, which was in
the middle age the symbol of the
municipal independence, is the
oldest one in Lombardy.
Pavia food specialities are zuppa pavese and risotto alla
certosina, created by the monks of the Certosa di Pavia.
Pavia: the capital of rice. Today Pavia is considered the
"rice capital", it is the largest rice-growing area in Italy.
Lombard cuisine includes dishes
such as risotto alla milanese, frogs
(only in Pavia), ossobuco alla
milanese, polenta and the now
nationally acclaimed Christmas
cake “ Il Panettone”.
The best wines come from the Oltrepò Pavese area.

Cossa is a school that offers many
services, this year we have started training
courses in different fields: nursery
schools,facilities for disabled people and
rest homes. I enjoyed doing this kind of
job and I will do it in my future.
My name is Fatima , I’m 18
years old, I live in
Giussago. I was born in
Bosnia in Zvornik.
Bosnia is in the East of
Europe.Sarajevo is its
capital city and one of its
most beautiful river is
Drina. Bosnia is a very
poor country so people
come to Italy to find jobs
and a better way of life. I
was born in Zvornik but
I live in Tuzla. When I
finish school I’ll come
back to my country.

My name is Melissa I'm 16 years old.
I live in Siziano, near Pavia in a flat with my
parents and a dog: Chicca. Cristina, my
mother, works as a nurse at the hospital, while
my dad has a bar in Milano. In my free time I
like going out with my friends, going dancing
on Saturday evening, going shopping, and
listening to music ...
This year our school
participates in
COMENIUS project and
I’m one of the lucky
people chosen to come to
Cyprous.
We are here now to meet
students of this country,
to learn something about
them and to tell them
something about us. I
think that young people
all over the world have a
lot of things is common
despite their nationality.

My name is Ilaria I am 19 years old I
live in Zerbolò a village near
Garlasco and I am a student.
I am a nice girl, lovely and
extroverted. I like going out with
my friends. In the third year we
begin to understand the world of
work starting “training courses”
that we call “stages”. At first I
went to a nursery school and
then to a psychiatric health day
centre for disabled people.
When I went there for the first time I was little afraid and I felt uncomfortable
but later I started appreciating those people, I tried to understand their problems
and to give them my little help.

I’m Italian, I live in Pavia with
my parents.
My hobbies are listening to
music, watching tv and going
to the gym to keep fit.

starting friendly relations with

This year I started training courses first
at ”Peter Pan”a nursery school and
then at ”Naviglio” a centre for
disabled people.
When I went there for the first time I was
afraid because I didn’t know much
about disability but now I know a lot
of new things . I feel good because I
have found out a new world full
of”surprises”.

in Voghera a little town near Pavia.
I’m 18 years old and I live with my
family in Sannazzaro (Pv).
I’ ve got two sisters, older than me and
I’ ve got a niece: Sofia ( eight years old)
and a nephew Lorenzo ( six years old).
In my free time I like going out with my fiancè and my friends.
I have been with Emanuele for three years and I like staying with him because
he is very handsome, nice and friendly.
I’m attending social courses to become a teacher in nursery school because I like
children a lot.
My training courses are at a nursery school and at a centre for disable people.

my grandmother’s cooking, her dishes are tasty and very good but I also
like eating out with friends and trying some different dishes. My favourite
food is pasta and pizza.
I dream about travelling around the world, visiting Paris, Santo
Domingo, Polynesia and other foreign countries, in order to see those
