Febr uar y 2004 Soundings Page 3 Soundings: Some members may receive both a mailed and email version again this month. Soundings Editor and Publisher Tom Elle and Contributing Editor Martha Warnars are looking for member input. Editors Note There has been not one response to the request for Soundings articles or information from the general membership! I/we need your help to make this publication more informative. This would help fill all four pages with information (which can often be difficult). Keep in mind, the content does not have to be about the island or members, it can be an issue, or condition that affects the members, such as lake levels or Corps of Engineers activities or snow in the UP that may make it down to Lake St.Clair. All these items and many more are of great interest to the membership. As two people, Martha and I do not have the same exposure to information as the 190+ members. Tom [Home Phone and FAX: 586.469.4445 or email [email protected]] Martha [Home Phone: 586.949.1883 or email [email protected] or [email protected]]. Committee Chairpersons and anyone else who would like to have something included in the Soundings…please submit your flyers or articles on or before the Friday prior to the Board Meeting. Dinghy Wells Available There are a number of wells available. Some of the most desirable wells have only one or two members on the waiting list. Contact Kathy Martin for a well or to see if the list for the well you’ve been waiting for is getting short! Kathy Martin...248.879.7077 or [email protected] ATTENTION TEENS !! We are going to set up a list for any teens wanting to do some babysitting while at Club Island. This list will be published in the Soundings giving people with small children an opportunity to use your services. If you are interested please send your name, boat name, age and a phone number, (preferably a number where you can be reached while on the island) Bill Cischke at: [email protected]. FROM THE ABYA MEETING Sea Cadets from Pride of Michigan Study Sunken Forest The sunken forest is in Lake Huron, 30 miles north of Port Huron 2 ½ miles off shore from Lexington. There are stumps rooted at the bottom of the lake about 40 feet down. Scuba divers took a piece of the wood and had it carbon dated. The results indicated the wood is over 6,980 years old. The ABYA is hosting an open house aboard the Pride of Michigan this spring, more info to come. CRBC Classified Ads 34’ Trojan F-31 1973. Twin Chrysler 318 engines w/107 hrs. Two new transmissions.
