February 2008 - Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce
February 2008 Horizons A Monthly Publication of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce from the... Chairman of the Board Fellow Chamber Members, It is hard to believe we are already one month into 2008. As we begin this year, I want to challenge us all to consider what we can accomplish this year in our businesses, families and social lives. As such, I came across another quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson that I would like to share with you. “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” I believe this is the attitude of your Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Division Chairman as we lead this chamber forward in 2008. We are blazing a new trail in membership. I am excited about our membership contest that we are starting in February. I believe anyone who has a connection with the Clear Lake Area benefits from membership in our Chamber, and I believe that we can each identify several people within our sphere of influence who would benefit from membership. Stephanie Rice with the Chamber is ready and willing to provide you with any information or assistance you may need. We are blazing a new trail in events. The Chamber puts on the best events in the Clear Lake Area, and our staff has been working extremely hard with the volunteers and sponsors to make sure our 2008 events are better than ever, so there are some changes in this year’s events! We have moved Epicurean Evening to a Thursday night (Feb 7). We have separated our 5K “4” Fireworks Fun Run & Walk from the Crawfish Festival (April 11 & 12). Of course, my favorite event, the Spring Fever Golf Classic (March 10) has been moved to the week before Spring Break (instead of the Monday everyone returns!). Don’t expect the status quo at any of our events; they are all going to be better than ever! Are you ready for 2008? I am! Very truly yours, Richard A.
