INSTRUCTIONS
Functional textiles as well as sport shoes and outdoor shoes should
be treated with appropriate care products to enable them to retain
their special properties, such as water repellency and breathability.
Correct and regular care contributes significantly towards maintaining
the quality and functionality of these textiles, sports shoes and outdoor
shoes.
TEXTILE CARE
CLEANING + CARE
All technical clothing should be washed
with Textile Wash in accordance with
the manufacturer‘s instructions. Textile
Wash ensures that garments are cleaned
hygienically, even if washed on a cold cycle
or hand-washed. Allow to dry completely
before wearing.

Special detergent for washing high-quality
sports garments and functional clothing.
– For use with all membrane textiles
(e.g. GORE-TEX®)*, synthetic fillings
(e.g. Thinsulate, Thermolite, Primaloft) and
stretch fabrics (e.g. Softshell, fleece)

unpleasant odors
– Does not contain bleach, optical brighteners or

TIPS & TRICKS
SLEEPING BAGS:
✔ Do not wash sleeping bags more often than necessary.
✔ Wash sleeping bags by hand or in a machine on the delicate cycle.
✔ Dry in a dryer at a maximum temperature of 30 °C.

MERINO WOOL:
✔ Wash merino garments with similar colors in the washing machine on a
normal cycle at 30°C.
✔ Do not use fabric conditioner or bleach. Do not dry in the dryer;
instead, dry flat in the shade or on a clothes line.

✔ The leather/textile/mesh used for shoes with GORE-TEX® or similar membranes should
only be treated with a special waterproofing product (e.g. Shoe Proof or HighTec Proof).
✔ For leather shoes only: the cleaned shoes should be treated with a waterproofing
spray while still damp (e.g. Shoe Proof or HighTec Proof).

In this damp state, the pores in the leather are wide open and the waterproofing product
can penetrate even deeper into the material.
✔ Never dry in direct sunlight or on sources of heat such as radiators or stoves. Wet leather
is highly sensitive to heat and becomes brittle, hard and develops cracks when heated
too quickly.

TIPS & TRICKS
✔ For suede and nubuck leather: please note that the surface structure of suede and
nubuck leather changes when waxed. The leather becomes darker and smoother. Suede
and nubuck leather can be touched up with a brush but the leather will not regain its
original appearance. This however does not alter its function in any way. Wax nourishes

the leather to prevent it from becoming brittle or developing cracks, and seams are
reinforced.
✔ Simply remove washable linings before applying Sport Hygienic.
✔ Apply the wax with a sponge or cloth; don‘t forget to wax tongues!

HOW TO PROPERLY CARE FOR
TECHNICAL CLOTHING AND SHOES.
Textile care
✔ Always read the care instructions sewn into your garment.
✔ Remove excessive dirt and mud under running water before placing
garments in the washing machine.
✔ Only wash products with special detergents (e.g. Textile Wash).
Common household detergents are generally too aggressive and may
attack both the outer shell and the membrane or can even clog the
membrane of technical clothing, reducing breathability.
✔ Close all zips and Velcro fasteners before washing
and take fold-away hoods out of collars.
✔ Never use a fabric conditioner.
✔ The drum of the washing machine should never be more than
2/3 full with laundry.
✔ Hang jackets on clothes hangers and dry in a warm place.
✔ Outerwear should be waterproofed after each wash (and as required) using
Textile Proof. This improves the lotus effect and enables sweat to be
transferred efficiently from the inside to the outside of garments.

Shoe care
✔ Clean heavily soiled shoes with a brush and with warm water or a
shoe-cleaning product (e.g. ShoeClean).
✔ Remove insoles from shoes and allow them to air and dry properly.
✔ Remove laces in order to apply care products to areas of your shoes that
are difficult to access, such as tongues and tongue bellows.
✔ Leather Shoes that are often subject to wet conditions must always be
cleaned with a wax cream or wax emulsion. Substances flushed out of the
leather by water need to be replaced in order to keep the leather flexible,
supple and resistant.
✔ Waterproofing shoes at regular intervals prevents water and dirt from being
absorbed and keeps materials breathable (e.g. ShoeProof).
✔ Do not wash leather shoes in the washing machine.
