How to Select Your Bathroom Faucets
Lavatory Faucets
Make sure your faucet selection is compatible with the number
of holes on your lavatory.
Single-Hole drillings require a single-hole faucet that typically
consists of one handle.
4" Centerset drillings can accommodate a single-control faucet
with escutcheon plate or a two-handled faucet combining the
spout and handles on the same faucet body.

Wall-Mount
8"-16" Widespread drillings require faucets with two handles
separate from the spout.
Wall-Mount faucets are used with lavatories with no hole
drillings, such as undercounter lavatories, KOHLER® Vessels or
Wading Pool™ lavatories. They require a separate wall-mount
valve and drain for complete installation.
Bath/Whirlpool Faucets
Bath- or deck-mount installation is determined by the material
composition of your bath or whirlpool.
Bath-Mount faucets mount directly to the fixture and can be
drilled into acrylic or FRP baths.
Deck-Mount faucets feature a longer spout that reaches over
the bath rim, offering greater faucet placement flexibility. Cast
iron baths require deck- or wall-mount faucets because their
material is too hard to drill.
• A spout should have adequate reach into a lavatory or bath
basin. This is particularly important when installing a faucet on
the countertop or bath deck instead of on the fixture itself.
• If installing a two-person bath or whirlpool, place the faucet off
to one side of the unit instead of at the head or foot end.
• A handshower offers great flexibility for rinsing specific areas
of the body, and is helpful for cleaning the basin when
finished bathing.
• For safety and convenience, bath faucets should be
accessible from outside the bath or whirlpool.

How to Select Your Bath and Shower Faucets
What Shower Control Options Do You Require?
• If using the space for both showering and bathing, you’ll need
a faucet with a diverter. Usually a small lift knob found on the
spout, the diverter directs the incoming flow of water to either
the bath spout or showerhead.
Other Faucet Considerations
• The height of the showerhead and bodysprays should
correlate to the height of the users.
• Handshowers in the bath or shower are convenient for
washing hair, bathing babies and cleaning, and are ideal for
users of varying heights or for individuals with limited mobility.
They require a diverter to appropriately direct the incoming
flow of water.
• Lever and wristblade handle faucets are easy to operate, even
for children and individuals with physical limitations.
• Matching accessories can be coordinated with KOHLER®
faucets for an easy design solution.
• Consider finishes for other faucet components, such as
drains, P-traps and toilet trip levers, to achieve a unified look.
