SOUND SERVICES
The Backlot Post consists of The Backlot Studios private cinema facilities (Melbourne, Perth & Brisbane coming soon), and The Backlot Post (Yarraville, sound design/edit studios facility).
Combining a state of the art 78 seat cinema with Dolby 7.1 surround sound, 8 metre concave silver
screen, luxury seats and equipped with high frame rate Christie 2K/3D digital projector - the facilities
provide producers and film-makers the attainability they require to see, hear and feel their film in the
ultimate cinema environment.
From capturing foley, tracking a live orchestra, recording ADR in our edit/design studios, and mixing in
our stunning 7.1 cinema environment – The Backlot Post prides itself on the execution of it’s services and
the ability to meet budgets with experienced and qualified designers, composers, editors, producers
and engineers.

Craig Jansson is the Head of Sound for The Backlot Post and the principal sound designer. With over 20 years industry
experience, Craig’s career has spanned multiple audio disciplines including Film, Radio, Games, Television, Advertising
& Documentaries. Craig is highly skilled in multiple aspects of sound production, including recording (studio & field), editing, composition, foley, sound design, mixing, voice direction, system design, implementation, cross studio team & project
management and various formats of surround mixing. Phil Heywood is a world renowned, multiple award winning Re-Recording Mixer with a career that has spanned over 40
years and has over 150 movies to his credit. He has collaborated with many first time to established directors including Peter
Weir, Baz Luhrmann, Zack Snyder and Bruce Beresford. Recent Feature Film credits include “The Lego Movie”, “The Great
Gatsby”, both “Happy Feet 1&2, “The Legend of the Guardians – The Owls of Ga’Hoole” and “Knowing”. Phil’s knowledge,
professionalism and experience will play a vital part in the success of post production sound at The Backlot Post and we look
forward to a long and healthy collaboration.
Matt Bauer is an Audio Director, Sound Designer, Recording Engineer & Mixer residing in San Francisco California with 17
years industry experience (originally from Australia). Matt has worked for companies such as Lucasfilm, 2K, THQ, Midway,
The Austereo Network and more. Matt specialises in foley & design under The Backlot Post. Mark D’Angelo is an accomplished and qualified Composer and multi-instrumentalist with over 15 years experience in the
music industry. Studying a Bachelor of Music Performance in classical clarinet and orchestral composition at The Melbourne
Conservatorium of Music & Victorian College of the Arts, he has branched out into composition and arrangement for film,
television and multiple media platforms as the principal composer for The Backlot Post. Working with various record labels
such as Sony, Warner, Neon Records and Universal music - he is also an experienced contemporary producer and audio
engineer. John Servedio is The Backlot Post’s dedicated Location Field Recordist. He has completed a bachelor in sound production
and eventually earned his spot as an assistant Sound Engineer at Imagination Sound Design Melbourne, Working on
International Game releases like, “Deal or no Deal”, “Who wants to be a millionaire”, “ Frogger”. With the completion
of the new state of the art ADR, Sound Design and Music studio at The Backlot Post (Yarraville), John along with Martin
Alexander will be handling The Backlot Posts Location / Field recording and Dialogue requirements for Film, Radio and
TV.
Tony Ianiro has had over 25 years experience within the film industry. He has worked in a variety of roles for Hoyts, Village
Roadshow, United International Pictures; representing Universal, Paramount Pictures and Transmission Films. Most recently
he was the Sales Manager representing Paramount Pictures across Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. With a wealth of
experience in film distribution and a passion for content acquisition, Tony bridges the worlds of post-production and distribution - managing Post Production schedules and multiple platform release strategies across Australia and NZ.
The DDP Studios and The Backlot Films partnership gives filmmakers a seamless and full set of post production
services that are mobilised and available in an expanded number of cities across Australia.
Under this strategic alliance, we will offer price pointed, full-service post production in the states of Victoria,
NSW and Western Australia from state-of the-art projected theatre spaces and edit suites in South Melbourne,
Southbank, Yarraville, Lane Cove, Crows Nest and Leederville with a Brisbane facility coming soon. The
studio facilities, national film despatch warehouses, distribution in Australia and NZ on all platforms and full
post-production services combined with DDP Studios, now enables producers and directors to get their content
into production and seen by Australian and global audiences delivering a ‘with the lot’ solution through The
Backlot Films.
