What’s an EMV Chip?
In 2016, MCCU will be reissuing debit and credit cards with the
new EMV technology. So what’s an EMV chip?
A more secure way to pay. EMV cards will contain a tiny
computer chip that is read at sale terminals, and provides a
more secure option than traditional magnetic strips.
An easy-to-use option. You’ll simply insert your card into the
base of the sale terminal, and the terminal will read the chip,
letting you know when to remove the card.

ONLINE BANKING & BILL PAY
Soon to be industry-standard. New laws impacting liability for
fraudulent charges mean both card issuers and retailers want to
have EMV compatibility available so they don’t end up on the
hook for losses due to outdated technology.
Good news for you! It won’t cost you anything, your account
number(s) won’t change, and we’ll keep you informed during
the transition to the new cards!
