The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was
coming to Jerusalem. 13So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet
him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even
the King of Israel!” 14And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is
written, 15“Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a
donkey’s colt!” 16His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when
Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about
him and had been done to him. 17The crowd that had been with him when he called
Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness.

The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this
sign. 19So the Pharisees said to one another, “You see that you are gaining nothing.

Announcements
Welcome: We extend a warm welcome to all who have come to worship with us
today. Palm Sunday – The day we celebrate as Britney, Devin, and Katie confirm the
faith God has given them in baptism. Palm Sunday – The day we celebrate the
Almighty God in the flesh riding into Jerusalem headed to His Death for us. Hear the
Word of the Lord.
A Word of God to chew on this week: 14Since therefore the children share in flesh
and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might
destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15and deliver all those
who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. Hebrews 2:14–15 (ESV)

We pray for God’s blessings on our Confirmands as they make a public confession
of their faith in Christ, and are received into communicant membership of our
congregation by the Rite of Confirmation. We pray that they may be kept ever faithful
to their vow of loyalty and steadfastness in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and
find joy and purpose in their renewed life in Him and His Holy Word. The
Confirmands, their Bible verses and parents are:

Psalm 1:1-2, parents – Jody and Sheri Ponder; and Katie Renee Winschel –

Confirmand Gifts: The Confirmands will each receive a prayer book, “My Prayer
Book”, from the congregation; a packet of devotions for young people, “Jeans Gems”,
from Concordia’s LWML; and a metal cross with a dove, in remembrance of this day,
from Thrivent Financial.
Floral offerings at our altar for this Palm Sunday are given in praise to our Lord by
the parents of the Confirmation Class. Praise God from whom all blessings flow as
today's Confirmands profess their Christian faith.
Easter lilies beautify the sanctuary as we celebrate our Risen Lord on Easter Sunday!
Today is the final day to sign the list if you wish to help with this project. You may find
the sign-up sheet on the south buffet. The cost of each plant is $10.
“Portals of Prayer” (April-June) are available today on the north buffet.
The Church Secretary will be in the office this week on Tuesday, March 22, from
12:30-3 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 23, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Please have all
bulletin items turned in by Wednesday at 12 p.m.
Thrivent Financial members have until March 31 to direct any remaining 2015
Choice Dollars. Concordia received $15,293 in Choice Dollars in 2015 and $3,221 so
far in 2016. Please remember to designate your Choice Dollars before they expire!
A Note from the Treasurer: As you look at designating Thrivent Choice Dollars, if you
designate them to Concordia Lutheran Church, please remember that unless you
choose otherwise, your Choice Dollars are donated to the General Fund. If you wish
to have your dollars go to a specific area/fund, you can either get a form from Carol

Duggan or the church office to designate the funds, or you can contact the church
treasurer, Sarah Benkendorf.
United in Christ Lutheran School (UCLS) Notes
A HUGE thank you for your support at the UCLS Fish and Chicken Supper, whether it
was by donating your time working, donating a dessert, or coming to enjoy the
delicious food and fellowship! We truly appreciate it! You helped make the supper

Saxony Lutheran High School Notes
Saxony Drama will present “Little Women”, the musical! Performance dates are
Friday, April 1, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 2, at 2 and 7 p.m. at the Perry Park
Center Theatre. Join us for this lively adaptation, based on the book by Louisa May
Alcott. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for students, and are available for purchase
through the Saxony office. Forms are in Concordia’s narthex for anyone who would
like tickets for "Little Women" and would like someone to purchase them and bring
them to church for them. Information about pricing and payment is on the form.
Remaining tickets will be sold at the door, but seats are assigned, so purchase early
for the best choice!
Neighboring Church & Community Notes
A Grilled Whole-Hog Pork Sausage Dinner, hosted by St. Paul Lutheran Men’s
Club, will be held today, March 20, with family-style serving from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at St.
Paul Lutheran School Cafeteria, Jackson. The menu will include smoked pork
sausage, sauerkraut, green beans, cooked potatoes, applesauce, dessert, and drink.
The cost of the meal is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children 6-12. Carry-outs will be
available for $9 each.
Saturday Evening Worship will not be held this Saturday, March 26, at Immanuel,
Altenburg.
Signs of Hope and Joy – Join the Trinity LYF for an Easter Sunrise Service, next
Sunday, March 27, at 6:30 a.m. at Trinity, Altenburg. Breakfast will follow the service.
The Annual Fried Chicken Supper, hosted by Immanuel Lutheran Church,
Altenburg, will be held Sunday, April 3, with serving beginning at 3 p.m. in the parish
hall. The cost of the meal, to be served family-style, will be $9 for adults and $5 for
children 6-12. Items will be available at the Country Store, hosted by the LWML and
ladies of the congregation.
The Missouri Beta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa is sponsoring a $750
scholarship available to an education major. The student should apply during the
spring semester prior to the final semester/year in their teacher education program. A
GPA of 2.75 in college work is required. Preference is given to a Perry County
resident or former Perry County high school graduate, public or parochial. Application

forms are available at the counselor’s offices of Perryville, St. Vincent, or Saxony
Lutheran High Schools, and must be returned to the scholarship chairperson by
Friday, April 1.
