Watch for sales at many of the shops in our area so that we can make this a VERY SUCCESSFUL outreach! Containers marked St. E's School Supplies will be in the Commons area for donation items. Envelopes for cash donations will be on the table with St. E's Donation marked on it. Please place cash donations in the poor box on the wall near the baptismal font. HONORING Jim McCann A record number of OSM parishioners and family and friends of Jim McCann (almost 100) honored him by unloading, packing, and distributing food to over 250 neighbors last Saturday at St. James Mobile Pantry. It was a wonderful tribute to a truly good man, one who always put the needs of others above his own. GOD BLESS and THANK YOU to all who volunteered. WE ARE COMMUNITY! JUST ONE ITEM CAMPAIGN JULY 21-22 Our Just One Item Campaign is this weekend. If you forgot, it’s never too late to make a donation. The basket under the Social Justice table for business travelers to deposit toiletries can be used by anyone. If you are out shopping today or this week and you see a sale at Walgreens, Target, Osco or the Dollar store, consider purchasing something for our neighbors at St. James. Our aim is, instead of a few individuals donating three or four items each, having EVERYONE who worships at OSM bring one item, a roll of toilet paper, one bar of soap, one tube of toothpaste, one container of deodorant, etc. The need is great. If you forgot this weekend, whenever you remember, your donation will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance! The digging and laying of gravel is going well. The entrance from Wabash has been graded out. Areas for plants are being created. These areas are similar to those in the parking lot between the Church and school. Parishioners Matthew O’Malley and Laura Foxgrover, owners of the Chicago Firehouse, as they did when our front lot was closed during the construction of our school, have once again generously offered their parking lot located at 1374 S. Michigan (NW corner across from the restaurant) for Sunday Morning Masses. Their lot has 40 spaces available and parking is complimentary. There will be two blue signs displayed at the site saying, “Old St. Mary’s Sunday Morning Parking.” PLEASE REMEMBER the Chicago Firehouse lot is only for our use for Sunday Morning Masses while our back Wabash Avenue lot is being paved and landscaped. The Joyful Again! Retreat workshop is for both men and women (all ages) who have been widowed and are still trying to find hope and joy in their lives. Workshops will be held: Joyful Again!
