Marsha Kirsch
Greatly loved for her enthusiasm and lively presentations, Marsha incites fantastic results, whether from the masterful technical skills she teaches or the inspiration that
sewers take away from her SVP events. She imparts an empowering "can do" attitude
when instructing in the use of advanced machines and new software . . . opening up
wide doors to creativity, and fun ways to embellish projects with exciting results. Customer "smiles" at the end of her events are her reward. Marsha enjoys creating and designing garments, purses and home décor projects. When selecting a pattern or design,

Soni Grint Independent Sewing and Embroidery Consultant
Soni Grint has been a sewer since she was 8 years old. Her embroidery career began when
she combined her formal education (M.S. Optical Physics / Computers) and her love of
fabric and sewing. She started working with a sewing machine dealership in San Diego,
California. Moved to central California where she worked a short time for White Sewing
Machines.
The real break through came when she was asked to be a part of Viking Sewing Machines
Product Council in Huskvarna Sweden. She represented the market place expressing what
people want in their embroidery and embroidery software. She traveled frequently to the
product developers in both Sweden and London England. Soni lived in Jonkoping Sweden for 2 years as she headed up Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff’s international education
departments. After coming back to the United States, she continued with her love of embroidery and sewing while heading up the Software department of Husqvarna Viking and
Pfaff, eventually becoming the Global Product Manager for this division.
Soni now directs her own sewing, embroidery and software consulting business. She travels throughout the United States
holding seminars and training sessions sharing her joy of sewing with others.

Lecture and Trunk Show: Discussion of Quilt Local: Finding InspiraƟon in the Everyday STC Cra| A Melanie Falick Book: For hun‐
dreds of years quilt makers have been inspired by places and objects in their everyday lives. Think of Churn Dash, Rail Fence, Flying
Geese, Log Cabin, and hundreds of other quilt paerns developed in the past. The (mostly) women who made these quilts had a
desire to create beauful, funconal objects, and drew upon what they saw in their daily lives as inspiraon for their work. Heather
Jones is honored to carry on the tradion in her debut book, Quilt Local, featuring 40 stunning projects inspired by country roads,
cityscapes, and street signs (the landscape of her modern existence), plus invaluable lessons on color theory and sparking creavity.
Improvisaonal Pineapple Block: In this workshop Heather will teach you how to create improvisaonally pieced pineapple blocks.
While the tradional version of this block can be somewhat inmidang to create, it becomes more relaxed and approachable when
combined with improvisaonal piecing as there is no need for precise measuring or cung. An added benet of this technique is
that it produces completely unique, one of a kind blocks with a strong graphic quality, and Heather will discuss how fabric placement
and color choices affect the design of the block. Students will nish the class with a number of completed blocks that can be used in
small patchwork projects or as the beginning of a larger quilt.
Heather Jones is a designer and self‐taught quilter who lives outside of Cincinna, Ohio with her husband and
two young children. She is the founder and former president of the Cincinna Modern Quilt Guild. Three of her
original quilts were chosen as winners of the Modern Quilt Guild’s Project Modern Challenges, a year‐long na‐
onal quilng compeon, and she is a two‐me nalist for the Martha Stewart American Made Awards.
Heather is oen inspired by everyday places and things, and is excited by the challenge to translate that inspira‐
on into her work. Heather has a great love and respect for the tradional art of quilng, is an avid collector of vintage quilts, and
loves to bring a modern twist to tradional paerns. Her modern quilng paerns are available at a number of online locaons and
she will soon be bringing the Heather Jones Studio paerns to print as well. Heather’s rst solo book, “Quilt Local” published by STC
Cra | Melanie Falick Books, an imprint of Abrams, will be released in the fall of 2015. Her work has also been featured in numer‐
ous publicaons, most recently in “Lucky Spool’s Essenal Guide to Modern Quilng” (2014), “Quilng the New Classics” by Michele
Muska (2014), and magazines including Quilty, Quiltmaker, Modern Patchwork, Generaon Q, and Love Patchwork and Quilng.
Heather teaches naonally at venues such as the Makerie in Boulder, Colorado; Internaonal Quilt Fesval in Long Beach, Califor‐
nia; and A Gathering of Stches in Portland, Maine. She also has appeared on Quilng Arts TV and Creavebug. Her work has been
exhibited at venues including the New England Quilt Museum, QuiltCon, Internaonal Quilt Fesval, and the University of Dayton,
among others.
