Put on your running shoes and participate in the annual
German-American Oktoberfest Night Run Sept. 13 at Freedom
Crossing, 1611 Haan Road on West Fort Bliss.
The run is open to everyone and begins at 6 p.m. featuring
an 8-K race and 5-K fun run/walk. Pre-race activities start at 4
p.m. and include the sale of German coffee, pastries, soft and
spirited drinks, snow cones and more.
After the race, stay to enjoy German bratwurst, beer, live
music and entertainment. Children’s activities include a bounce
house, games and the Freedom Crossing play areas.
Participants have the option of running the 8-kilometer race
or walking the 5-kilometer fun walk. Children can ride their
bikes or scooters and moms bring out the jogging strollers.
More than 1,000 people are expected to participate this
year.
The race includes individual and military unit team division
8k races. The top three military teams will win unit-fund donations. Early registration is under way and costs $20 per person
and $25 late registration.
Register online at active.com by 3 p.m. Sept. 12. Runners
can also complete early registration at Soto and Stout physical fitness centers by 6 p.m. through Sept. 11 and at Freedom
Crossing food court from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sept. 8 through 12.
Late registration runs from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Freedom
Crossing.
Civilians are welcome on Post and may enter Fort Bliss by
showing a U.S. Driver’s License or U.S. Government Issued
ID at the Buffalo Soldier Gate (previously Robert E Lee Gate
by El Paso International Airport) or Cassidy Gate (off HWY
54).

ORYX Challenge, Sept. 14: The
ORYX Bike Tour challenge is at Freedom Crossing on West Fort Bliss. The
100k bike ride begins at 8 a.m., and

off of U.S. 54. Wounded warriors
participate free of charge. The cost

Mena Memorial Race: The 8K
run and 1-mile fun walk begin at
8:30 a.m. Sept. 21 at Sunland Park

support education for the public and

BOSS Bash: BOSS Bash is your day for
fun! Starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 26 at Biggs
Park, you’ll enjoy music spun by DJKB, free
food, $2 beer and lots of live entertainment.
Minute to win it games and inflatable rides
will be on hand to bring the fun to a whole
new level. This event is open to all BOSS
members, which include single Soldiers,
unaccompanied Soldiers, and Soldiers who

Golf Membership Special: New members of the Underwood Golf Complex will
receive half price dues for October, November and December when they sign up before Sept. 30. Underwood Golf Complex,
features the desert landscaping of the Sunrise Course and the lush, parkland style of

Spouse Employment Orientation: Attend the Employment Orientation at Army
Community Service. The orientation is 1.5
hours and will have resume (civilian and

ACS Instructor, Briefer, Facilitator
Training: Become an ACS instructor!
Army Community Service offers instructor
training courses, briefer training courses
and facilitator training courses throughout
the year. These courses are mandatory for
all ACS staff and any volunteers who will
be teaching or briefing. Training is open
to all ACS employees and volunteers, and
to anyone who would like to gain skills in
teaching and briefing. Facilitator training
courses are offered as a two-day session,
from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. each day. The next
facilitator training course is set for Oct. 7-8.
Classes are held at the Family Resilience
Center, Bldg. 250 Club Road on West Fort
Bliss. Pre-registration is required. Register

Child care providers needed: Fort
Bliss Child, Youth and School Services
seeks child care providers to work from
home as part of the Family Child Care program. FCC providers can earn $26,000
to $40,000 per year. Earn income while
staying home and develop a long-lasting,
portable career. FCC training and experience are transferable to other installations
and CYSS programs. Take advantage of
opportunities for professional growth. You
can also earn monetary subsidies linked to
types of care offered while you receive support from Child, Youth and School Services.

weekly and is open to active-duty, military
dependents, and retirees with ID on Thursdays from 1-3p.m. and is open to everyone
from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Friday.

Experience for Military Families has kicked
off its seven-month, stateside adventure.
Elmo, Katie and their Sesame Street pals
are scheduled to at Fort Bliss Sept. 4 at 6
p.m. and two performances Sept. 5 at 10
a.m. and 6 p.m. All performances will take
place at Stayton Theatre. The show is free
and open to active duty Soldiers and their
immediate family members only. Tickets
available at ITR locations inside Freedom
