Christmas at The Castle
There is no place like Bovey Castle to experience the magic of a country house Christmas.
The hotel is transformed into a festive hideaway for December. Plump armchairs nestle against tables laden with walnuts and oranges,
rooms are illuminated by spectacular Christmas trees and sparkling decorations.
New Year’s Eve brims with the decadent glamour and excitement that surrounds the last night of the year, drawing to a dramatic close with
fireworks over the estate and flowing champagne.

After brunch sign up for the golf tournament or join
us for a guided walk before brunch. Our much loved
ferret racing is a firm favourite, as is our ‘nearest the
pin’ golf competition, served with hot chocolate and
mulled wine on the south terrace. Afternoon tea will
also be served in the Cathedral Room.

Our storyteller will keep the children entertained,
followed by high tea and a festive movie.
Finish your day with a five course dinner and
entertainment in the Great Western Restaurant.

In the morning take part in our exciting scavenger
hunt then enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery with
a guided walk.
The revelry begins with a drinks reception, followed
by a fabulous Christmas Day lunch in the Great
Western Restaurant. Christmas wouldn’t be
Christmas without the Queen’s speech, tea and
mince pies. A buffet will be served in the Great
Western Restaurant that evening.
Once the children are tucked up in bed, sit with a
nightcap and listen to the storyteller weave some
tales in front of the fire.
Full English breakfast will be served before we bid
you a fond farewell.

including egg collecting, our falconry display,
scavenger hunt, golf tournament, and a guided

Enjoy a light lunch then take a tipple in the Long
Barn with our cider and sloe gin making class.
Afternoon tea will be served in the Cathedral Room,
then try your hand at ferret racing or our ‘nearest
the pin’ golf competition. Wine and Champagne
tasting will also be available.

Bird of Prey Experience
Bovey Castle at Christmas is an eye widening experience for children with trees, decorations and twinkly lights aplenty throughout the hotel. The
estate is a frosty winter playground for running, games and exploring in the fresh air, all bundled up in coats, hats and mittens.
Little ones will marvel at the tallest Christmas tree on Dartmoor, which looks magnificent in our Cathedral room. Whilst staying with us children
can come and collect their eggs for breakfast daily, or watch the daily falconry display at 10am. When tummies are growling, Smith’s Brasserie is
our family friendly restaurant, where our menu for smaller appetites is available.
Bovey Rangers is perfect for keeping our younger guests entertained during the Christmas holidays, offering supervised activity sessions of
exciting indoor and outdoor activities for 7 to 14 year olds including survival skills, archery, owl experiences, wreath decorating and float fishing.
Little ones from 3 to 7 years old will be happy in the our supervised Play Barn, where they can take part in painting, clay work, puppet making,
puzzles and games.
Our 'Bird of Prey Experience' is spent with a
selection of our falconer’s birds of prey and
is truly quite unforgettable as you watch this
magnificent raptors soar through the frosty air!
You will have the opportunity to fly a variety
of different birds of prey on the Bovey Castle
estate, observe their individual characteristics
and see close up the wonderful partnership
that exists between falconers and their birds.
This session is held on the herbaceous border
that surrounds the summerhouse at Bovey
Castle. Please be aware that this is a weather
dependent experience.

festive film, take part in ferret racing and scavenger hunts, not to mention their choice of our Bovey Rangers activities.

Terms and Conditions
To secure all Christmas and New Year bookings a confirmation of your booking is required in writing,
together with a 25% non-refundable deposit upon confirmation, with the remaining balance to be received
by 1st November 2016. Bookings taken after this date will need to pay a 100% non refundable deposit.
Private Parties and Events
Two weeks prior to the event we request guaranteed final guest numbers and the table plan. Should the
number of guests be less than expected on the day of the event, the guaranteed number of guests will be
charged for. Any increases to the number of guests on the day will be charged accordingly.
The deposit will be deducted from the final account. Receipt of the deposit constitutes a binding contract
between the hotel and client. All additional sundries will need to be settled on departure. Unless otherwise
stated, wines and beverages will be charged accordingly.
Cancellation Policy
In an event of cancellation, the following charges will be made:
Cancellation of a confirmed booking - loss of deposit in full.
Cancellation with less than 2 months notice - 50% of total charge.
Cancellation with less than 1 months notice - 75% of total charge.
Cancellation with less than 14 days notice - 100% of total charge.
Accommodation will be available to guests from 2:00 pm and is to be vacated by 11:00 am on the day of
departure.
We recommend that travel insurance is taken to cover possible cancellations.
