The bulk of marijuana consumed in the United States used to come across the border from Mexico, Canada and elsewhere. Now, more than half of it is believed to be home grown in California, where an enormous black market has emerged under the cover of the state’s medical marijuana law. With more than a third of all states now experimenting with some form of legalization and decriminalization - and several California counties attempting to openly regulate pot production - FRONTLINE and The Center for Investigative Reporting team up to investigate the country’s oldest, largest and most wideopen marijuana market. Is the federal government now moving to shut it down? 6 www.kbtc.org Thursday HIGHLIGHTS Friday Full Focus The Aviators European Journal Full Focus NOVA* Frontline* Special* Special* Specials 8/4, 9:30 a.m. 8/11, 7 a.m. 8/12, 7 a.m. 8/18, 8 a.m. Sit And Be Fit Sit And Be Fit Burt Wolf: Travel & Traditions* Ask This Old House* Lidia’s Italy* This Old House* Kimchi Chronicles* Sesame Street Mexico-One Plate at a Time* 8/25, 8 a.m. Straight No Chaser: Live in NY Malt Shop Memories Country Pop Legends Clearing the Smoke: The Science of Cannabis Children of the Amazon Globe Trekker Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Sesame Street Curious George Curious George The Cat in the Hat Knows... In the 1960s, this symbol of the United States became an emblem of environmental degradation, as the pesticide DDT and other human pressures brought it to the brink of extinction. Following their protection as an endangered species, bald eagles have come roaring back. Photographed by three-time Emmy winning cinematographer Neil Rettig, this first-ever HD hour on bald eagles focuses on the drama of the nest. Even in the best of times, it’s a surprisingly tough struggle to maintain a one-ton home and raise chicks until they can hunt on their own. This is an intimate portrait of these majestic raptors’ lives in the wild. www.kbtc.org
