Calling All Delta Omicron Chapters and Members
To Conference 2015
Delta Omicron’s Triennial Conference is scheduled to occur on July 15-18, 2015
at the Hilton Indian Lakes Resort in Bloomingdale, Illinois. The 2014-2015 school year
will be a time of preparation for this important event in Delta Omicron. Chapters will be a
part of that planning process.
Each Delta Omicron Chapter is directed by our BYLAWS to send an official
delegate to represent their chapter at the 2015 Triennial Conference, the
governing body of Delta Omicron. Chapters will elect their delegate and an alternate and
submit their names in March along with their Conference Registration Fee. Lodging, meal,
and travel arrangements for official delegates will be supervised through the Executive Office.
More information about the delegate registration process will follow. Updates on conference
can be found on the website at www.delta-omicron.org and on the D.O. Facebook page.
Other Delta Omicron members who plan to attend will need to submit their registration
to the Executive Office and arrange their lodging through the conference hotel. The nondelegate registration from can be found in this WHEEL and may be found on the fraternity
website.
Chapters and members are encouraged to help with conference preparation. Below
are some ways you may help:
• Call for Collegiate and Alumni Performers: If you would like to be considered
to perform on the Collegiate Concert or Alumni Concert, you will need to email an
audition on a digital file, or send a link to a performance of a good quality to Kathy Vail
by Decebmer 1, 2014. Please see pg. 5 for more information.
• Silent Auction: Each chapter is asked to submit an item(s) for the Conference Silent
Auction. Your delegate will bring those items to conference. Proceeds from the Silent
Auction will go to support the Fraternity at its projects. Chapters may wish to make craft
items or bring purchased items. All items should be related to music or D.O. Alumni are
invited to assist with the auction. Alumni members please contact Mary Chisholm for
more information at [email protected] if you would like to assist.
• Sponsor A Chapter Ad: Throughout the year, we will be accepting ads in THE
WHEEL from chapters or individual members. The ads can highlight your chapter or
honor an individual D.O. member. Ads will be one page ($120), half page ($75), or
quarter page ($50). Contact Janet Gross for more information at [email protected].
• Sponsor A Conference Concert: Chapters may dontate money to help sponsor one
of the conference concerts. Such a donation may be listed as a national service project
for your chapter for the year. The chapter will be listed in the concert program for their
donation. Contact Jennfier Klafeta for more information at [email protected].
• Bring Your Chapter History: Chapters are encouraged to research your own chapter
history and bring copies (150) to conference to share with other D.O.s. Such chapter
histories should be one page front & back.
• Chapter Scrapbook Judging: Don’t forget that each chapter will need to submit their
chapter scrapbook for the Scrapbook Judging that occurs at conference. Chapters who are
bringing computer versions will need to supply a computer for viewing the Scrapbook.
• Purchase Your Fraternity History Book: Each chapter is asked to purchase their
chapter’s copy of the Delta Omicron Centennial History if they have not yet done so. Such
a purchase may be listed as a national service project. Information is included with Fall
Supplies, in THE WHEEL, and on the D.O. website.
Finally all DO members are encouraged to attend the Centennial Conference.
You are fortunate to be able to attend this historic event. What fun it will be to be at conference
together—a once-in-a-lifetime event. Share it with your D.O. friends – old and new.

Help Restore the Delta Omicron Studio
The MacDowell Colony, located in Peterborough, New Hampshire was founded in 1907
by composer Edward MacDowell and his wife Marian. It is the nation’s leading artist colony
and nurtures the arts by offering writers, visual artists, composers, filmmakers, playwrights,
interdisciplinary artists and architects an inspiring environment to create and produce
enduring works of the imagination. There are no residency fees at MacDowell. The Colony is
supported by contributions and an endowment.
Delta Omicron decided at the 1924 Delta Omicron Convention to build a studio at the
MacDowell Colony, and on August 1, 1928 the Delta Omicron Studio was finished and
ready for occupancy. The Delta Omicron studio is 84 years old now and is in need of major
renovations. The MacDowell Colony has called on Delta Omicron to raise the $170,000
needed to upgrade the heating system, plumbing, and interior and to add more space to the
studio to accommodate the Petzold-Collyer Memorial Piano.
The Delta Omicron Foundation is asking for the support of Delta Omicron chapters and
collegiate and alumni members to help raise the funds needed to make the Delta Omicron
Studio at MacDowell Colony an ideal creative home for future composers once again.
How Chapters and Members Can Help
Just as Delta Omicron Chapters pledged support for the studio construction in 1925,
we now call on all chapters and members to help with this restoration project. Our hope
is that each chapter will donate to the Foundation's Delta Omicron Restoration Project
annually over this triennium as they did years ago. This donation can fulfill and represent
one of your chapter's service or national projects for the year. Chapter and individual member
donations will be recognized in Foundation publications annually and at the 2015 Triennial
Conference. Chapters who donate will be recognized with a certificate of appreciation at the
2015 Conference Foundation Luncheon. Donations may be designated in recognition or
memory of someone.
This studio, affectionately called "Omicron Studio" by resident artist fellows at MacDowell,
bears our proud Fraternity name. Let us together work to insure that it can bear that name
into the next century. Please join our efforts by making a gift to support the Delta Omicron
Studio and the future of the arts in our country!
Please write your donation check to:
