“How to Boost Your Business with
Dynamic Email Marketing” Workshop
Wednesday, March 7 • 8am, Lafayette Library
You get it. You understand the incredible potential, but you don’t
have the tools to create a dynamite email campaign. On March 7th
at 8:00 am at the Lafayette Library, Don Wexler of BlastMyBiz.com
will cover the ingredients of a successful email campaign that you
can do yourself. Don Wexler is the founder of and chief strategist
for Blast My Biz, an online marketing company and a partner in
mobile text (sms) marketing platform that helps businesses increase
their brand awareness and bottom line. You’ll learn about the entire process — from building a list to formatting the actual email.
You’ll learn what to write and when to send it. Even if you’ve already made the plunge, this seminar will help you take your emails
to the next level.
Call 284-7404 to reserve your seat ($10 for Chamber members,
$20 for non-Chamber members). You can submit an email that you
want critiqued to [email protected].
P.S. This is not your same-ol’/same ol’ “pitchfest” about email marketing. Hard-core real world content that you can implement the
moment you leave the room to start generating more business now!

Downtown Specific Plan Heads
Towards Final Review and Adoption
THE WORKSHOP YOU SHOULD
NOT HAVE MISSED
Hey, that is the same headline I used last March! Many of us have racked
up some serious points for attending well over 100 meetings over the last
5 years. And just when we thought we were approaching the finish line,
Redevelopment Districts were eliminated in California. Meanwhile the
Planning Commission has been busy working on their final comments
on the Plan, the EIR and have begun work on design guidelines. Looks
like this might reach the City Council before we send our the May/ June
newsletter. You can always follow along by going to the city website,
www.ci.lafayette.ca.us , attend the meetings or join us on the 4th Friday
each month for our Business Issues Meeting on March 23 or Coffee with
the Mayor on April 27, right here at the Chamber office (Conference
Room).
On February 22, 2012, the chamber sponsored a workshop on ADA
Accessibility Laws for Small Business. New laws take affect March 15th.
If you think you are “grandfathered” in, think again. Don’t be the business that failed to take action. You can visit our website and go the
link for ADA information - www.lafayettechamber.org. The workshop
was presented by Sandra Bonderud, Architect, [email protected]
Chamber hits new record
with memberships
Barbara has been busy! How busy you ask? She has just added over 40
new members to our chamber in the last 6 weeks. She’s running out of
welcome packets. Join us at our next mixer on Wednesday, March 14
at the Round Up Saloon. This is a rare opportunity to meet so many
new people.
Streetscape UPDATE
The project is taking a little longer than anticipated.
The contractor has completed the tree removals;
and PG&E has completed lowering their shallow
electric lines. The project has continued with placement of the concrete curb, gutter, driveway, irrigation sleeves, grading and placing base rock in the
walkway areas and brick paver installation between
Lafayette Circle west and west of Amarin Restaurant.
The next Phase moves from Lafayette Circle out to Happy Valley
Rd. and includes a stone wall along the Diablo Foods Shopping Center
frontage on Mt. Diablo Blvd.
While the work is in progress, please lend us your cooperation and
extra patience and be alert to equipment, workers, and traffic. We thank
the local businesses for their patience. It is going to look great when
completed. The city will update their website weekly. You can get current information by visiting www.ci.lafayette.ca.us
Planning Commission says
NOT SO FAST on Land Swap
with EBMUD
EBMUD needs to replace a pumping plant on Mt. Diablo Blvd. next
to Ace Hardware. It would like to build a new pumping station at the
corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Court (in front of Blodgett’s
Abby Carpet & Flooring. The city has discussed swaping the sites. The
city could put a small satellite parking lot next to Ace Hardware and
EBMUD would build along Mt. Diablo Blvd. There are some complications that will have to be worked out. Blodgett’s (a third generation)
business in Lafayette was moved to it’s current location when eminent
domain was used during the construction of Hwy 24. This agenda item
will come before the PC again in March.
EARTH DAY Celebration
on Sunday, April 22
Mark your calendar come down and enjoy the family friendly event from 11:00am – 3:00pm. This
year we will gather at the Library and Learning
Center. Movies, Green Tips, products, movies and
a wonderful organic lunch offered. Co-sponsored
by Sustainable Lafayette, Lafayette Green Committee and the city’s Environmental Task-Force.
