Italy: May 5th - 13th, 2011
Day 1: Thursday 5th May 2011
• Depart Detroit International Airport on a regularly scheduled airline to Milan Malpensa International Airport
Day 2: Friday 6th May 2011
• Arrive in Milan where our full time bilingual Harvard
Sports Italia Tour Escort meets the group to transfer
by private motor coach to beautiful Lake Como, a
magnificent combination of Alpine peaks and Mediterranean foliage
• Free time to explore Como and have lunch on your
own
• Check in to Como area hotel for a 3-nights stay in
twin bedded rooms with private facilities
• Como is a fabulous contrast of Medieval Cathedral,
cobbled stone streets and protective city walls, and modern luxury villas and upscale shopping mecca just north of Milan
• Dinner at the hotel and a free evening

Day 3: Saturday 7th May 2011
•Breakfast
•Depart for 1/2 day white water rafting tour through the Italian
Alps.
•Lunch on your own after the rafting trek
•Then depart this afternoon for the world famous San Siro Stadium and to attend a professional game from the Italian Serie A
featuring one of Milan’s soccer giants, Inter Milan and AC Milan
(ticket included, game depending on schedule) (Note: A copy of
your passport is required to purchase tickets in advance.)
•Return to the hotel for dinner and a free evening
Day 4: Sunday 8th May 2011
• Breakfast at the hotel then depart for local Outdoor bazaar or visit the Mantero
famous silk factory outlet within Como
• After the match transfer to the lake front to enjoy a relaxing cruise on Lake Como
• Travel to the Centro Lago section and visit Bellagio, possible the prettiest village in
all of Italy with its steep narrow streets, lakeside piazza,
and beautiful gardens.
• Free time to explore Bellagio and have lunch on your own
• Return to Como for a unique experience at the Como Culinary Institute where tonight Chef Angelo will teach “The
sauces and pastas of Italy”.
• Bon Appetito! Enjoy your dinner
Day 5: Monday 9th May 2011
• Breakfast at the hotel, check out and then depart for
nearby Milan
• Continue to the center of the city and enjoy a half day
guided tour of the fashion capital of Italy, including the
Castle Sforzeni, the Duomo, the
world’s 3rd largest Gothic
structure, and the flagship boutiques of some of the world’s most famous designers.
Kappa, Admiral, and Diadora outlets will be visited.
•Lunch on your own and a free afternoon to discover
Milan
•If available, transfer to the refectory of the Church of
Santa Maria della Grazie for a viewing of Da Vinci’s The
Last Supper - viewings by appointment only so this is a
wonderful opportunity to see one of the world’s true
masterpieces (Admission included)
At
the
conclusion
of
the
day
depart for La Spezia and

the Italian Riviera.

Cinqua Terra
• Dinner
Day 6: Tuesday 10th May 2011
• Check out after breakfast
• A small train traverses between the 5-villages of
Cinqua Terra.
• Enjoy the Beach or sightseeing in this fabulously
beautiful region of Italy.
Then
in late afternoon depart Cinqua Terra and head
•
South to the Tuscany area.
• Stop at the the Pavilion area at Pisa for photos of the
famous Leaning Tower, Baptistry and Cathedral.
• Then finish the day with arrival in Florence area.
• Check into Florence area hotel.
• Dinner and overnight
Day 7: Wednesday 11th May 2011
•After breakfast depart for a half day guided visit of Florence
- Our local guide will introduce all the major sites of the
Home of the Renaissance, including the Ufizzi and Accademia
Museums (admission fees not included), and the magnificent
gold, silver and leather markets around San Lorenzo.
•Free time for lunch on your own at any of the outdoor cafes
in the San Lorenzo Square, and then devote the afternoon exploring Florence - wander the medieval streets in Dante's old
neighborhood, and maybe to sip a cappuccino on the famous
Piazza della Signori
• If a weekday professional game is scheduled today, we have secured tickets for admission. (2nd Pro game included)
• Return to the hotel for supper and free time
Day 8: Thursday 12th May 2011
•Breakfast at the hotel
•Transfer to San Gimignano for a free visit
•Free time in San Gimignano
•Transfer to a local farm in San Gimignano
•Luncheon at Winery and Tasting during Farewell luncheon for
the ONU Alumni
•Transfer to Siena for a brief time for own sightseeing and
shopping
•Depart in early evening for Milan Malpensa International Airport and check into to local airport hotel to prepare for return to
the USA
