You’ll also notice there are a couple of recurring themes. First there’s the concept of tradition. There’ll be some wonderful traditional quilts on show. Di Ford-Hall won our Rajah Award for 2015 and her amazing works exemplify the beauty of classic quilts. Lessa Siegele has recreated the Rajah quilt and will be teaching her Rajah Revisited class so quilters can make their own version of Australia’s most treasured historic textile. Our AQC Challenge this year explores the theme of Tradition with a Twist and quilters have applied some creative left field thinking with splendid results. Then there’s our guest tutor and lecturer Victoria Findlay Wolfe whose amazing interpretations of the traditional Double Wedding Ring quilt design bring this much loved design into the modern era in a most delightful way. The other thing that has crept in this year is creatures in quilts. Stevie, a life-size saltwater crocodile quilt (named in tribute to the late Steve Irwin) is on its way from the USA with Susan Carlson, and in our mini-challenge quilters have had the chance to celebrate the love of their four-legged family members. You’re going to love this display – Paws & Whiskers – don’t miss it.
