The Event:
For 22 years, CEO, Lisa Ruffin, has emphasized brains over beauty, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of impressionable young girls over the years with her
Little Miss African American Scholarship Pageant.
The Opportunity:
The LMAA pageant provides the perfect opportunity for sponsors to increase brand
awareness, receive additional exposure and credit for supporting multicultural
diversity.
Pageant Visibility:
Thousands of people attend our annual event in person - including local and
national media, corporate and industry VIP’s as well as celebrities. However, with
our presence on the world wide web, dvd sales, public appearances etc., we add
unlimited possibilities for increased exposure. Sponsors would be at the forefront
of this special night.

About the Program
Founded in 1992, the Little Miss African American Scholarship Pageant (LMAA) is an educational program, that helps prepare young ladies between the ages of six and twelve to become
self-sufficient adults and tomorrow’s leaders. Based on the idea that young people must
begin with a strong foundation, LMAA uses a pageant format to provide an early introduction to the arts and training in public speaking while promoting individual creativity and
stimulating a heightened cultural understanding. We believe that within each girl is the
promise of unlimited possibilities; we offer the pageant as a vehicle for bringing out that
potential. This year round educational program consists of: coaching, tutoring, guest
lectures, and demonstrations through the use of multi-media projects utilizing science and
technology. Additionally, the participants are instructed in voice projection, body movement, poise, and memory techniques.
For the last twenty two years, in partnerships with parents, this nonprofit, multi-dimensional
program has taught hundreds of girls the arts of storytelling and group performance. On
stage, before thousands of supporters, friends, and relatives, each participant offers a self
introduction, a short dramatization-illustrating what she wants to be when she grows up, and
a brief biographical narrative about a notable leader, thinker, or artist who has contributed
to our rich heritage. We look back upon the “greats” of the 21st Century andour Heritage
portion of the pageant focuses on Black leaders, African Kings & Queens, African-American
poets, artists, scientists and inventors.
Our pageant’s motto is: Confidence, Awareness, and Pride (C.A.P.). These
positive attributes have assisted hundreds of young ladies across the
country to polish their C.A.P.’s so they may wear them for a lifetime.
