As we move into the November and December
holiday seasons, as members of the ACC, we
have many things to be thankful for. We will have
celebrated the 100th anniversary of our clubhouse,
completed our first year of successfully operating
The Booth, continued to develop new health and
fitness programs including updating our cardio
equipment. Paul Kroll and his management team are
continuously striving to enhance your membership
experience, as demonstrated by the very positive
feedback on our private events and dining
operations.
In making your plans for holiday gatherings and
family outings, please keep the ACC in mind.
Whether it is Brunch with Santa, Martini’s & Mistletoe,
or just an intimate family or office gathering, the ACC
should be top of mind to you. Please contact our
private events staff to begin planning. Also, as you
may recall, the Board recently approved food and
beverage charges on weekends to apply towards
your quarterly minimum. If you are downtown for a
concert, show or Blue Jackets game, stop in at the
ACC for a pre- or post-event cocktail!
The Board is continuing to analyze input from
the Facilities Committee as it revises the Master
Plan for the clubhouse. We have recently
engaged a nationally recognized design team
specializing in hospitality spaces to provide us with
recommendations on how we can revitalize the
first floor facilities for all members of the club. One
thing that you should be very proud of is that when
this group made their first visit to the club, they were
“bowled-over” by what we had done with The Booth.
They indicated that “we get it,” regarding ways we
can utilize our crown jewel’s uniqueness in today’s
highly competitive social environment. Look for more
information on this early next year as the Facilities
Committee and the Board begins to finalize decisions
on our next investment of our capital dollars.
Best wishes and we will see you around the club.

CLUB NEWS
Paul Kroll, Jr., CCM
General Manager
Heading into the cold months, members and
staff alike welcome the increase in activity in all
areas of the club. Busy dining rooms, Squash and
Basketball clubs both ramped up, and Rod and Gun
programming gets very…interesting.
If the seasonal shift to downtown activity isn’t enough,
Chef John Wolf and Sous Chef Sam Westlake have
put together solid, soul-satisfying menus this fall for
weekend Brunch, as well as for Carmichael’s, The
Grill Room and The Booth. Some of the favorites for
Brunch: House smoked salmon benedict, and yes,
the salmon is smoked in house; Pecan and Molasses
Granola with Snowville Creamery yogurt and fresh
berries; Corned Beef and Hash with sweet potatoes
and hollandaise; and don’t forget Athletic Club
Roasting house coffee, of course. Keep in mind the
recent Board decision to include weekend food and
beverage purchases in your F&B minimum, making
brunch a win-win-win for your family.
Just in time for the busy season, we
have a new tool to help us along our
path to reliable, exceptional service
throughout the club. The prized
service experience is a balance of
roughly equally a servant’s heart and
a craftsman’s attention to detail.
In order to hone in on where we
stand currently, and move toward
the prized service experience,
we’re pleased to announce the
introduction of a new member
feedback system called Humm.
You’ll be able to experience this
system in Carmichael’s and The
Grill Room for the time being. While
traditional surveys are very helpful for
gauging an overview, it is difficult to use
such a static document as a tool to help
our operation improve. We know that
exceptional hospitality service requires
ongoing communication of everyone
involved. The Humm system enlists a
mini Samsung tablet that offers simple
functioning and immediate feedback,
and it only takes you about 20 seconds
to complete the questionnaire! Over
time, we will move the tablets among
our dining outlets and the athletics floor
with the goal of reinforcing clubwide
service standards.

100 Year Celebration!
Forty-seven Columbus business men, believing in the
future of their city and confident of the demand for
a large and well-equipped club with athletic and
social features, gathered together on the evening of
September 26, 1912, and organized the Athletic Club
of Columbus, with Mr. Henry J. Booth as its President.
By May 1, 1913, less than six months after organization,
the Club membership had grown to over 800.
Consolidation with the Ohio Club was then effected,
and on July 1, 1913, the Athletic Club of Columbus
began operation in its own quarters on the twelfth
floor of the Columbus Savings & Trust Building (now
known as The Atlas Building,) with an enrollment of
1,000 members and a waiting list.
Plans were soonthereafter launched for a new home
for the Athletic Club of Columbus. In November
1915, the doors to the newly erected Athletic Club of
Columbus clubhouse at 136 East Broad Street opened.
Celebrate 100 years of the ACC clubhouse with us on
November 6, 2015! A festive cocktail party will be held
in the ballroom from 6 - 7:30 PM. RSVP online.
We offer more than sound legal advice.

changes make it necessary for us to periodically review
our financial plans to determine if they are still working
toward our current and future goals.
