SIGNIFICANCE OF DHARMAVARAM
Dharmavaram is a city and one of the
Municipality in Ananthpur District of
Andrapradesh with an area of 41.25 sq.kms
.Dharmavaram is a hub for pure silk which is
also world famous for its intricate and exquisite
silk sarees. The main economy of the town is
weaving industries and city is famous for
handloom silk sarees.

Editor’s Note: we are happy to state that various development projects i.e
development of children parks near Shivanagar and Durganagar costs 50 lakhs, and
also water supply improvement project costs 17.57 crs which were under AMRUT
scheme got technical sanction, which will helps for better quality of life for people of
dharmavaram.The State Government has decided to takes an intitiative to develop a
green cover programme “Vanam Manam” under the mission Harithanadrapradesh on
29th of july in all over state. On this occasion people are voluntarily participated and
60178 trees were planted in the municipality. Prestigious Smart pulse survey taken up
by government of Andhra Pradesh is started in Dharmavaram municipality with 60
enumerators and 6 supervisors. Till date 5975 household details were collected.
Now a day’s conservation of natural resources is very prominent, in order to achieve
sustainable development. To conserve energy resources We have successfully replaced
80%of conventional street lights with LED lighting.

Vanam - Manam
Conducted Vanam-Manam Program in Dharmavaram Constituency as
informed by Govt of Andhra Pradesh on 28 July 2016. Hon’ble MLA Sri.
Gonuguntla Suryanarayana, Council Chairman Sri. Beere Gopala Krishna,
MRO and all other Municipal staff participated in Rally followed by
Meeting.
Vanam-Manam(Tree Plantation)
Around 60,178 trees were planted in Dharmavaram municipality on the
occasion of Vanam- Manam Program. Hon’ble M.L.A Sri Gonuguntla Surya
Narayana, Chairperson Sri Beere Gopala Krishna and Municipal
Commissioner Sri. G Naga Mohan started Vanam - Manam program on 29
July 2016. 20,000 trees were distributed to all households in the municipality
to plant at their houses.

Awareness program on Open Defecation
Conducted Awareness program on Open Defecation at B.S.R Boys and Girls
Municipal School on 16th July 2016 in which Municipal commissioner and
Sanitary Inspectors participated. Created awareness among students on
importance of Individual House Hold Toilets and negative impacts of Open
Defecation.
Smart Pulse Survey
Smart Pulse Survey is started all over the state as directed by
Government of Andhra Pradesh. In Dharmavaram Municipality 0n 06
July 2016 Smart Pulse Survey is started. Till date 5974 household details
are entered. 60 no of enumerators and 6 no of supervisors are working
on smart pulse survey.

Public Grievance Redressal Module.
A workshop conducted on Public grievance redressal module to all the
municipal staff. Manjunath from karvy has been discussed about the
functions of PGR module. He explained the functioning of PGR app.
LED Street Lighting System
Complete transformation of conventional lighting to energy efficient LED
system is started in Dharmavaram Municipality. Out of 5741 conventional
street lights around 4698 are replaced with LED lights. Hon’ble M.L.A Sri.
Gonuguntla Suryanarayana garu inaugurated the LED street lighting project
on 05 July 2016.

Stray Dogs
Dog menace – Animal Birth Control (A B C) Operations have been started on
28 July 2016 by Municipal Chair person and Commissioner. So far 3500
Dogs have been identified to operate. Per each dog Rs.800/- is spending by
municipality to put on Anti-Rabbis vaccination and Birth Control operation.
Dr. Manjunath from Guttur welfare society in association with Dharmavaram
Municipality, this Stray Dogs program was started.
Individual House Toilets Status
Out of 1653 Individual Household Toilets sanctioned, 1147 IHHT’s are
completed till date. Recently a NGO named Vishwanatha Foundation led by
Rtd. IAS officer K.R Paramahamsa joined in constructing IHHT’s along with
Dharmavaram Municipality.

Council Meeting
One General Council meeting was conducted on 30th July 2016 and passed
Resolution.
Amrut
The Government Of Andrapradesh have accorded Administrative Sanction of
Rs 50.00 lakhs vide G.o M.S No:74 Dated 24-03-2016 for taking the work of
Development of park under AMRUT scheme. The estimate is Technically
Sanctioned for Rs 49.98 lakhs and registered under Superintending Engineer,
Public Health No: 59/2016-17 on 29-07-2016.
Introduced IIT syllabus in Govt. Schools
Hon’ble M.L.A Sri Gonuguntla Suryanarayana introduced IIT syllabus in all
Government schools in Dharmavaram municipality on 29-07-2016.

Foundation stone was laid to shopping complex worth of 30 Lakhs by MLA
Gonuguntla Suryanarayana.
