Science Students Learn Via Virtual Lab Activities
Of Academic Excellence A VIRTUES-BASED COMMUNITY Promoting Leadership Through Character Education A College Preparatory School Science Students Learn Via Virtual Lab Activities S 7th Grade students working on a virtual lab: What factors affect the likelihood of hypertension? tudents at Radians School use virtual labs to carryout many types of experiments and research which they would otherwise not be able to do. Studies on the use of virtual labs always demonstrate that these engage the students and promote student interest in lab work. An engaged student is a students who learns. Interestingly enough, a study reported in the International Online Journal of Educational Sciences states that: several research results reported in the related literature in which it was claimed that virtual laboratories enriched with simulations has many advantages on increasing students’ achievement (Joseph et all, 1999; Ozdener and Erdogan, 2001). At Radians School, STEM education is strongly emphasized in a non-traditional educational environment. Students report feeling challenged, being clear in course expectations, and discovering new and exciting things every day (99.63%). We will continue to work to engage al of our students in their education process because we understand that their future success depends on this. Once again, Radians School leads the way in non-traditional education. Middle School Students Create Full Size Renders Pictured are several creative works of our students used in the process of learning higher level math skills in Prof. Acevedo’s class. Art and Math are intricately related. When students are allowed to express their creativity using Math as a basis, they come to deeply grasp and understand mathematical concepts. Our no-traditional educational process promotes student creativity in every classroom at al times. Teaching math with art is an excellent strategy. The connection between the two is very often overlooked when teaching math, but the truth is that using art in math significantly improves retention of key concepts and vocabulary. All students are gifted, and teaching math with art gives artistically gifted children a chance to shine. For right brained children (who are often left handed) art engages the right brain which is a critical part of their ability to learn math concepts and vocabulary. Art activities are fun for everybody, and since authentic learning is linked to emotion, it just makes sense to incorporate art in Math class. Radians School wants every child to learn math deeply! 3rd Graders Learn More When They are Engaged Study after study confirms that students who are actively engaged in their classes learn more. In Radians School, non-traditional education allows students the opportunities to express themselves creatively. That is why students love coming to school. Every day they discover something new. Working in a non-judgmental and relatively free environment allows the students to go beyond the required skills objectives and accomplish more. In Ms. Ruiz’s 3rd grade classes, the students work in group; each group makes a chart of some activities and daily tasks of the Igneris' culture. They describe food, pottery, religious ceremony, hunting, fishing, slash and burn agriculture process, and from where they came and how the Igneris arrived to Puerto Rico. The students then prepare and demonstrate a short presentation about their group’s work. Students Go On Cultural Trip To Ponce Cultural trips help students develop a sense of understanding and, in some cases, a sense of pertinence; a realization of “who I am”. Museo de la Música Above, Kinder students learn about the library and the important of reading , as well as participate in a reading session with our school librarian, Prof. Alvarez. Museo del Deporte Parque de Bombas Museo de la Historia de Ponce Radians Cub and Boy Scouts Troop 453 Photos, the leaders of Troop 453 are dedicated to helping your child learn the skills that will make him both independent and leaders in their homes and community. Students learn to be responsible, honest, and trustworthy. 3rd Grader Runs World’s Best 10K Mrs. Flavia Quiñones informs that Derek participated on Sunday, February 28th in the World’s Best 10K at the Teodoro Moscoso Bridge.
