The way to boost your speaking business is to
increase your speaking opportunities! If you want to
speak more - you must work at speaking more!
Yes! You’ve got to uncover or create speaking
opportunities for yourself!
Speaking is an art form that takes time, preparation,
practice to master.
And while you’re building the art, you must speak!
That’s the only way to build your craft!
You must let everyone know you are a Speaker and
have a message that can help their organization or
business.

more?

Marketing is getting the word out about your products.
Marketing leads to sales. Willie started with just a
legal pad, a phone book and rotary phone.
1. Tell everyone in your network or inner circle
you are speaking – relatives, friends,
associates…anyone in your network. Then
expand the circle!
2. Use the telephone! Call and market before you
sell. Say “This is what I do and can do for you
and your company.”

3. Create cheap printed material to give away:
fliers, big postcards (what you can do for
them w/pictures), bookmarks, etc.
4. Create simple website (Wordpress)…your #1
marketing tool.
5. Use the three-foot rule. Talk to everyone
within three feet of you!
6. Identify decision makers who hire speakers.
Ask lots of questions to get to the right
person. Then pitch your program!
7. Speak for free and get testimonials, audio
and video.

1. Find a voice you trust. Then follow it!
2. Establish a rock solid work ethic. Be “a
stamp” until it delivers.
3. Hunt down who you admire and serve
them.
4. Create your signature story (a 5-minute
version to a 50-minute version).
5. Keep busy with free speeches i.e. Rotary,
Lions, Chamber, BNI. You cannot download
a full calendar! You must hustle. And what
happens when they like your first talk? Do
you have anything else?
6. Hustle: nights, weekends, lunch breaks,
vacation time.

7. Listen to trusted counsel. Attend NSA
Convention.
8. Pick a niche and grow rich.
9. Know what you don’t know and ask for
help.
10. Devour information about your craft.
11. Identify your special business model:
speaking, seminars, facilitation, media host,
etc.
12. Pay to showcase.
13. Create space for your gift. Join the 5am
club! Noon Shiners. Work in your car during
lunch hour. Attend conferences.
