Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Prato’s Infomobility The city of Prato is equipped with a Traffic Control Center that involves : •Traffic light •Variable Message Signs •Traffic counter station •Underpasses Control System •Restricted traffic area •Weather alert panel Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Traffic Control Center Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Traffic Light 10 junctions was equipped with new traffic controller, centralized in traffic control system Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Variable Message Signs 5 VMS was installed in the access point of the city Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Traffic Counting Station 15 TCS was installed in strategical location of Prato’s infrastructure. TCS are matrix O/D counter in video technology. Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Underpasses Control System 10 Underpasses was monitored in real time by the traffic control center. Each underpass gives informations about the presence of the water on the street, electrical status, traffic light status. Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions •Restricted traffic area In 2015 was activated the restricted traffic area to limit the access to the historical centre of the city. It was installed n° 6 Electronic Gate with ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition). Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions • Weather Alert Panel In 2016 will be installed n°4 weather alert panel, according with the requirements of civil protection. Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Traffic Simulation Model The Municipality developed in 2015 the traffic model of the city. The micromodel was created with the software Aimsun and represents the current status of municipal roads. The model is the mean tool to study the current traffic and the future viability. Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● Pedestrian area (APU) A concrete example: Piazza delle Carceri Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Piazza delle Carceri before the action Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Piazza delle Carceri at the beginning of twentieth century Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions The Project Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions The rendering Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Archaeological works Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Piazza delle Carceri after the action Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions ● AREA 30 and urban regeneration A concrete examle: The urban center of Tavola before the action THE CITY CENTER OF TAVOLA: CRITICAL ANALYSIS Analysis: - A suburban city center (Tavola) with an anonymous square used only as a parking lot; - Narrow streets, but traffic fairly consistent and often addressed at high speed; - Stop vehicle messy, often on flower beds and sidewalks; - Lack of an outdoors meeting place; STRATEGY PROJECT PROJECT: Renovation of the city center of TAVOLA and establishment of area 30 Project description: Associate intervention to mitigate traffic a redevelopment project; Reorganization of space with better definition of parking spaces and reduction of road sections; Redesign of the square as a meeting place; Inserting elements of street furniture, plantings and flower beds with new lighting; New signage and reduction of traffic lanes, raised pedestrian crossings and establishment area 30 to enable the multifunctionality of urban spaces. Project amount: 260.000 Euro PROJECT REDEVELOPMENT OF THE SQUARE THE AREA 30 In gray “area 30” CURRENT SITUATION (inaugurated on 27.10.2014) Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions •Road Safety Solution In 2015 they were installed n°20 Lighting Pedestrian Cross Signal to improve the pedestrian safety. In 2016 they’ll be installed all the main pedestrian cross of the city. Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions Prato participated in a series of regional co-financing and ministerial calls with which it is able to fund a series of projects and activities valuable for the development of Prato’s SUMP. In particular the following projects: The Regional Call 2013 “Infomobility” co-financing 50% (€ 300.000,00) of the project that includes: •Urban Traffic Control System •Variable Message Signs •Traffic counter station •Underpasses Control System Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions The Regional Call 2014 “Azioni Regionali per la mobilità ciclabile in ambito urbano” co-financing 50% (€ 1.000.000,00) of the project on bicycle mobility that includes: •bicycle mobility plan •connections between bike paths •renovation of existing cycling routes •bicycle path signs Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions The Regional Call 2014 “Azioni Regionali per la sicurezza stradale ” co-financing 50% (€ 300.000,00) of the project on road safety that includes: •Pedestrian and bicycle bridge •Lighted pedestrian crossings Prato’s SUMP Infomobility and road safety solutions The Regional Call 2015 “Autorità della Partecipazione Regione Toscana” co-financing 85% (€61.000,00) of the project “MIP- Muoviamoci Insieme Prato”. It’s a participation process, in progress, for the elaboration of Prato’s SUMP which includes the involvement of schools and workshops with citizens. Thank you for your attention!
