Welcome!
Welcome to Montana’s GED Online course!
Here’s a brief overview of some of the key features in the classroom. We highly
recommend that you take the Blackboard Tour before you begin working, in order to take
advantage of all the features on the site.
In addition to your online studies, we ask you to meet with us at the Center for Academic
Success once a week unless circumstances prevent this. Our most successful students
have been those who have worked both online and in the classroom with us.
We’ll give you new assignments as you progress through the GED Online levels until
you’re ready to take the practice GED tests. When your practice tests show you are
ready, we will help you set up times to take the official GED tests.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail or call us at the following:

(phone): (406) 874-6152
Again, welcome to the Miles City distance GED program! Good luck with your studies,
and please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you.
Sincerely,
Shelley Freese
Melinda Lynnes

GED Online Student Contract
It is your responsibility to make your experience in the online classroom successful.
Here's what you’ll need to do:
Take this seriously. Remember, getting your GED will improve your life.
Daily participation will increase your chances of success, even if it’s just for
thirty minutes. Check into the online classroom daily and complete at least
one quiz per week. If you have not completed one quiz in a 7-day period, your
password will become invalid and you will have to come in to the Center to reactivate your account. We share seats with the entire state of Montana and
reserve the right to deactivate students who are not working.
Be dedicated and motivated. There are so many learning opportunities in our
online classroom. Take advantage of all of them. Check the announcements for
Center closures and updated schedules, do the assignments, and check your
progress with the quizzes. We have found that requiring students to meet with us
once a week in person greatly increases their success. If you live in the Miles
City area, you are required to come into the Center once a week to meet with
us, go over assignments, and make any necessary adjustments. If you do not live
in the Miles City area, you are required to check in with your instructors via
phone or email.
Be sure to read instructions, but if you are lost or confused about accessing and
navigating through the site, please contact us. We are also happy to help you with
any troublesome assignments.

Working in Blackboard GED Online
Here’s a quick introduction to the classroom, along with a brief overview of some of the
navigational tools.
We have assigned you to a level based on your TABE scores.
To get to GED Online go to:
www.montanaged.com and click on
“Student Login.”
Enter your Username & Password and
click “Login.” This will take you to the
“Missouri Adult Education & Literacy”
homepage.
From here, click on
the “ Miles City
GED Online” link
under the “My
Courses” header.
This is the Classroom
homepage. Next, take the
“Blackboard Tour.”
Click on “Course
Information” and then
click on the “Blackboard
Tour.”
Announcements
will be posted on
the homepage.
Montana is partnering with the
Missouri Online program.
Using SkillsTutor – SkillsTutor is a terrific site that helps you prepare for your GED
After you’ve taken the tour, click on the “Assignments” button. SkillsTutor can be
accessed either through GED Level 1 or GED Level 2.
Click on “GED Level 1” or “GED Level 2”:
Next, click on “SkillsTutor.”
Then click on the
“SkillsTutor” URL Link:
On the SkillsTutor homepage enter your Username
& Password (the same one you use to access
Blackboard).
Enter “Missouri01” in the “Site” box.
TIP:
Make sure you’ve entered capital “M” and the
numerals “01” (not the letters) in “Missouri01”
Once you are
logged into
SkillsTutor,
select one of
the subjects
you have been
assigned on
your sheet.




The first time you access
each subject area you will
need to take a Pretest.
You can only take each
Pretest once.
After you complete the Pretest,
SkillsTutor will set up a curriculum
tailored to your needs.
You can repeat any of the lessons
as many times as you need to!
After you’ve completed SkillsTutor you are ready to move onto the rest of the
assignments. Click on the “Assignments” button. Find your assigned level and click on
that link. For example, “GED Level 2, or 3.” Each level is separated into learning units.
We will select assignments based on the subject areas you need to review for your GED.
For example, if you need to review grammar, we’ll ask you to complete the “Punctuation
Learning Unit” in the “Grammar” section under “GED Level 2.”
To find this
lesson, you’d
click on the
“Grammar” link,
which would take
you to the home
page for that
subject. Next,
you’d click on
the
“Punctuation”
link.
Each learning unit contains interactive worksheets, online activities, and a quiz. The
worksheets and exercises are designed to help you pass the quiz at the end of each
section.
You can flip through the unit by clicking on the arrows at the top of the worksheet, or
by clicking on the “Contents” button at the top of the page.
To see a list
of the topics
covered in
this unit,
click on the
"Contents"
button.
To advance from
one page to the
next, click on the
"arrow" button
After you’ve completed the worksheets, take the quiz at the end of the chapter. If you
pass the quiz with a 75% or higher, you will get credit for completing the assignment.
Once a quiz is launched you have to finish it in one sitting; you cannot stop in the
middle and save your answers. Set aside about 30 minutes for each quiz. We can re-set a
quiz if you need to take it again.
Once you’ve passed the quiz, e-mail us to let us know you’ve finished the assignment.
Then, stop by the Center to help us choose your next assignments.
