November is one of my
favorite months at Lake
Oconee. A little chill in the
air, but then it warms up
to a beautiful, sun shiny
day. Plus, it is the holiday
social season filled with
many parties, theatrical
shows, and dances with
good friends. As you are
out and about, enjoy the
fall colors;
they are
truly quite
vibrant.
See you at
the club!
Cheers,
Angela

Theater on the Lake
It has been decided to change the production
dates for our chosen play, “Southern
Surrender” by Joan Sween; this is so that we may have
more rehearsal time in order to perfect the complicated
maneuvers required of the all action wartime (Civil War)
plot. Our new dates will be May 1 and 2, 2015. We have
had a group reading of the play, and it was impressive to
note that readers dropped seamlessly, and often hilariously,
into character. Diana Peper
Scrapper members have had a remarkable October that
included “make and take” demonstrations by Stacy Johnson
from Stampin Up as well as demonstrations and ‘hands on’
classes from Scrapper members Pam Vescuso and Barb Gearhart. Thank you, ladies, for your time,
patience, and precise instructions in presenting new ways to create easy and beautiful cards and learn new
skills on our ScanNCut. Also a big thank you to the members who made extra cards and gift/bottle tags to
sell at the Fall Festival.
Meetings in November will include November 4, a unique demonstration by Trina Berry using
stamps and clay and November 18, our annual business meeting (no visitors). Members, please be
sure to attend the business meeting as we review the budget and make plans for next year.
Stampin’ Scrappers meet the first and third Tuesday of each month at 10:00am. We encourage
visitors to come check out Stampin’ Scrappers and join the fun.

As our weather cools and fall approaches, the Tennis Club is gathering on Saturdays for
Ladies Play at 9:00 a.m. on two courts and for Men’s Play at 9:00am on two courts. At
10:30am the “forces” join for some doubles play. We’ll maintain this schedule until the weather becomes
too cold and then revise our times.
Our first Ladies Invitational was held on Wednesday, October 22nd at 6:00pm. Members of the Tennis
Club invited friends from the community to join us in some fun tennis. This was the first time “the club”
has utilized the lights. A bit of a different game!! Kathy Foster did a fantastic job of organizing the
event. We presented our friends with visors to thank them for joining us. Kathy fed us some of her
breads and warm apple cider. We totally enjoyed ourselves.
Our club continues to grow. Thanks to Ed Olson’s solicitations, our male membership has increased over
the last month or so. Community members are always welcome to come and play with us. Stop by and
join us or if you would like more information, email [email protected]. Lee Jackson

The Del Webb Christmas Program
Thursday, December 4th at 7:00 pm
Make plans to attend this special Christmas event and enjoy listening to residents of Del Webb sing and play
some of their favorite Christmas songs. Others will share favorite readings of the season. A part of the
program will be a sing-a-long of some of the old favorite secular songs and carols of the season. You will
need to sign up for the event at the front desk. Admission is free. You only need to bring a smile and a
cheerful heart. Go ahead and call to reserve your seat.
There is still room on the program for those that would like to participate. If you have a song or reading you
would like to share, contact Gary Walker at [email protected] or Gene Anderson at
[email protected]. The program committee will be meeting the first week of November to put the
program together and will then get in touch with those that have volunteered to perform. It is going to be a
fun evening.
Ladies Lunch at the Potted Geranium
This month’s Ladies’ lunch was an elegant affair at the Potted Geranium in Greensboro. On arrival, we were
given a choice of seating in the pink room or the purple room – I chose purple because I was wearing a new
purple sweater so I blended. The tables were beautifully laid out with tiny
chrysanthemums in glass pots decorating each place. There was plentiful hot
tea, deliciously flavored and very thirst quenching. We were served a
combination plate which included a small spinach salad with goat cheese, a big
English type scone with jam and clotted cream, and a beautiful chicken salad.
After lunch we could visit a small shop filled with decorated china, aromatic
packs of soap – everything in keeping with our delightful lunch.
Our picture shows Gloria, in an extremely stylish hat, being poured tea by
Mildred to the manner born.
Rivers Alive ~ October 25, 2014
On a foggy Saturday morning, eight volunteers from Del Webb, mobilized by Karl Peper, set off by boat to
take part in the Statewide ‘Rivers Alive’ project. As theirs was the only boat taking part in the project, they
made it their aim to clean and collect rubbish from Lake Oconee islands and shorelines. The first picture,
taken at the dock before they left, shows them picture perfect and correctly attired;
the second picture, at project’s end, shows them
proudly work-stained and weary, with an estimated
five hundred pounds of collected garbage.
Pictured on the boat, back row L-R, Leo Wiesler, Mark
Davis, Lloyd Gribbin, Dave Heinfeldt, Karl Peper, Jim
Heenan. (Front) Martha Davis, Diane Wiesler.

Charter Club Annual Meetings
November and December are busy months for
charter club officers and members. It is a time of
annual meetings, elections for new officers, end-of
-year paperwork, and sometimes by-law changes.
It is important that 2015 officers are elected by
year’s end to ensure adequate and timely training
and transition to the new year. During the month
of October, the front desk will put together packets for each charter club. In these packets will be
the forms needed for end of the year reporting. If
you have any questions, please contact Angela in
the lifestyle office.

Suggestions to make exterior home and landscape change
applications go smoothly
A change to any exterior portion of your home or yard requires an Application for Changes,
Additions, or Landscaping Approvals form, which is found in the Del Webb at Lake Oconee Design
Guidelines Appendix B. You may also obtain a blank form on www.cluboconee.net in Documents >
DWLO Community Documents or at the Club.
This form is required to request, in a nutshell, what the resident would like to change. Please
carefully detail all information requested, verify the accuracy of supporting information such as
drawings, etc., initial each detail request and sign page 2. It is important to remember that you, as
the resident, will not be in the review meeting, so the application and other paperwork must fully
explain the change to avoid a request for more information.
Common causes for an Application for Changes, Additions or Landscaping Approvals form
being returned for more information are as follows:
•
•
•
•
No signature on page 2 or missing initials on the details.
Incomplete information such as size of pergola requested.
Supporting documentation contradicts the application.
Landscape addition drawings do not indicate the location of new landscaping nor the size and
do not show location of existing landscaping.
DEL WEBB LAKE OCONEE VETERANS CLUB
We are most fortunate in our Del Webb Lake Oconee (DWLO) community to have over eighty
residents who have served in the United States military from all five branches: Army, Navy, Air
Force, Marines and Coast Guard. Initially, the club was an informal organization started through the
efforts of Henry Jackson about a year ago. In early 2014, club members commenced the process
of becoming a charter club. Through the guidance and efforts of Roger Lindquist, the DWLO
Veterans Club was chartered in May of this year. The purpose of the Club is not only to recognize
our veterans but to provide a patriotic setting and venue to experience camaraderie with our fellow
veterans and veteran supporters. One of our goals is to support active duty military personnel and
increase awareness in our community to issues affecting veterans and their families. Additionally,
the club conducts fundraising events in order to support our community and/or “charitable
organizations.”
The Club successfully sponsored two fundraising events for our residents: The 4th of July and Labor
Day. Funds, after expenses, are used to help veterans, with the most recent contributions set aside
for the Wounded Warrior Project.
Club officers are Roger Lindquist, President; Carol Tully, Vice President; John Rudowski, Treasurer;
and Don Burrows, Secretary.

Debbie Pittman and Brenda Young won the women’s division
of the first Del Webb Peachtree Invitational.
Teams were comprised of pickleballers from all three Del
Webb communities. Over twenty-five teams competed in the
men’s and women’s divisions, and the competition was
fierce!
Congratulations to Debbie and Brenda for a job well done!!!
A Del Webb group attended the Governor Deal/Jason
Carter and the David Perdue/Michelle Nunn debates in
Perry, GA on Tuesday, October 7. David Perdue supplied
the buses and boxed dinners. We had a fun time and
enjoyed the debate at the National Fair Grounds in Perry.
