Tracking with a treasure map!
We hike to the Geo Trail Laas where you
will be given a treasure map. This map
will show you the route ahead. We pass
a mill which we will get to work, listening
to its clacking noise. Then we continue
into Austria’s only petrified wood where
we collect letters which are hidden on
colourful boards. Hunting for treasure
chests near ruins is the highlight of the
hiking tour. We finish the hiking tour at a
cosy rest area with view across the entire
upper Gailtal Valley. There we will help
you to put the letters together and to find
a solution word. The puzzlers’ hard work
will be rewarded with a small surprise.

– Living geology / leisurely walk
We hike through a shady, secluded forest
to Laas where we continue with a leisurely
walk to the petrified tree of Laas, Austria’s
largest plant fossil. The 280 million year
old tree makes you impressively aware of
your own mortality.
We continue our walk along a small
stream where we, with some luck, may
discover turquoise-blue to jade-green
stones. Then we carry on up to the beautifully situated forester’s lodge with furnace
and smelting works.
