Waukesha Carroll University Waukesha gained worldwide fame as a 19th century spa town, famous for its healing springs. Today, it’s a dynamic and forward thinking city of 71,000 people. The Alliance for Young People has named Waukesha one of the 100 best communities for young people for five years straight and Money Magazine declared it one of the 100 best places to live in 2012. Our campus, just twenty minutes from Milwaukee and 100 miles from Chicago, is well positioned to provide real-world learning experiences through internships, student teaching opportunities and clinical placements (health care firms are the region’s largest employers). Historic downtown Waukesha offers funky shops, coffeehouses and restaurants, as well as the RiverWalk along the Fox River. Indulge your artistic side at the Waukesha Civic Theatre and numerous galleries, just blocks from campus. The Wisconsin Philharmonic performs at several local venues during the year, including Carroll’s own Shattuck Auditorium. The hills and forests of the nearby countryside offer hiking, biking and camping opportunities galore – from the Glacial Drumlin Trail to Lapham Peak to the Southern Kettle Moraine State Forest. Carroll and the Waukesha Community Downtown Waukesha Your Carroll student photo ID card, known as the PiONEer Card, can be used to access meal plans and Dining Dollars, open campus doors and utilize library services.
