EN - 01/2014 THE FOUNDATIONS OF OUR SUCCESS Balta was founded in 1964 and is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Balta Group has grown into one of the leading producers of floor coverings in Europe with a consolidated turnover of more than 586 million Euros and with 95% of its products exported to over 100 countries throughout the world. Product development teams within each division at the Balta Group keep a close eye on international trends and make sure that it stays one-step ahead in each sector of the markets it operates in. As a market leader, the Balta Group is not only seen as a trend setter in rugs, broadloom carpet and carpet tiles, but also as a pioneer in new flooring technologies and solutions. With state-of-the-art vertically integrated production facilities, the Balta Group is constantly looking to improve its operations on all levels, applying the principles of ‘LEAN’ manufacturing. A Total Quality Management system in all production plants ensures that products from the Balta Group are safe and perform well and the manufacturer looks for synergies wherever possible, helping it to rationalise product portfolios. The Balta Group comprises: woven area rugs (Balta Rugs), wall-to-wall carpets, residential carpet tiles and needle felt (Balta Broadloom and ITC), wall-to-wall carpet (Arc Edition®) and tiles (modulyss®) for commercial use and technical non-wovens (Captiqs®). The Balta Group has 10 production sites worldwide, including two in Uşak Turkey, and a distribution center that services North America in Dalton, USA. Carried by the efforts and energy of more than 3,300 employees, the Balta Group delivers a professional, customer-friendly approach by which it becomes a reliable partner for companies in many markets. A unique market-orientated creativity, strongly enforced vertical integration and operational excellence at every level are the driving forces of the Balta Group’s strategy. With the aim of reducing its energy consumption and waste output, the Balta Group is developing more sustainable products, and improving production methods and procedures. Such is the Balta Group’s commitment to reducing its reliance on fossil fuel energy that it has recently completed three solar energy projects with a total of 50,000 solar panels covering an area of approximately 271,000 m2 (54 football pitches) upon factory roofs. The production of this renewable energy will allow the group to reduce its CO2 emissions by 95 million kg over the next 20 years. People are the greatest strength of the Balta Group!
