I left the Island Highway not that long
ago, and find myself slowly weaving
through the corners of Strathcona
Park. I feel myself drawn to my
destination. Stepping out of my truck,
beside the deep canyons and dark
blue pools of the Gold River, I wonder
if my arrival is anticipated by the
chrome Steelhead of this majestic
waterway. I see them through my
polarized lenses, darting through the
rapids, leaving their dark, rock
caverns of refuge. There will be
nowhere to hide on this day.

It’s truly one of the most magnificent
sights I've seen as a sport fisherman.
Walking the trails along the Adams
River in the month of October, I see
the water colour transformed to a
maple red. A “dominant" run for the
Sockeye salmon is a sight to behold.
These heroes have battled 400
kilometers in from the coast to return
to their birthplace, which they left four
years ago. What an epic journey!

It’s a quiet morning drive on the
winding road to my favourite spot on
the Vedder. “There's hardly anyone
out,” I whisper to myself, hoping it to
be true. Coming around the last bend,
my hopes are dashed. Seven
fishermen at my secret hole—I guess
it’s no longer a secret. Within minutes
of hitting the water, I'm battling a
monster White Spring, followed by two
Chums, and three Coho. The bite was
on, and the thrill seemed to last for
hours. Exhausted, I reel in and sit down
on the shoreline to enjoy the coffee
from my Thermos. We are eight…but it
feels like there is no one here but me.

After making the trek down the lush
Pacific slope of the Coast Mountains, we
encounter a sow grizzly and her two
cubs who merely glance at us from the
opposite bank of the milky green BELLA
COOLA River. They are feasting on the
plentiful salmon that run this river.
Undeterred, we carry on and begin our
day fly casting for Coho, eagerly
anticipating the journey back with
exhausted arms because of our success.
The river never disappoints, nor does
such a beautiful drive; it’s like travelling
from one world to another.

As breathtaking as the landscape of the
majestic Chilcotin mountain range may
be, as I row into a small bay of the 200+
hectare lake, my focus remains on the
catch of the day—wild stock Rainbow.
In an instant, one of the larger 'bows
that reside here hammers the green
Wooly Bugger. The reel screams as he
takes three leaps, and in a split second
the lake of glass turns into turbulent
chaos. With the rushes behind me on
this eastern shore, I play this hog for a
quarter-hour until he surrenders. Five
pounds is my guess—let’s see if he hits
six next year.

As my son and I unload the canoe
from the truck, we take a moment on
the bridge, and look south to see the
narrows of Lightning Lake open up.
A true gem, nestled in the heart of
Manning Park. We’ve been coming
here for years, and this favourite hole
of ours has never let us down with its
plentiful Rainbows. Watching my
son carefully net and release them
makes me proud, as I can see his
appreciation for this fishery. What a
perfect way to spend a day.

I make a right off the Cariboo’s “Fishing
Highway” and find myself on the shores
on the aptly named Crystal Lake. At
3800 feet, the air is crisp and cool. As I
float out on my tube and gaze across the
lake, I find it hard to separate the
shoreline from its reflection. Not a
moment too soon, I deliver the Tom
Thumb from my trusty #5/6 into the
water ahead of the slurp. In true Rainbow
fashion, he hits it on the second round as
though it was part of that last hatch. As I
play this hammer, a loon’s call pierces
the silence. For the briefest of moments,
I enjoy the echo … and then I notice the
slack in my line.

It's my fifth time back, but every time
feels like the first time. Tucked away in
the jagged peaks of the Coastal
Mountains, I'm lucky to fish one of the
largest and highest freshwater lakes in
North America. With the sun setting at
my back, and only a modest wind, I
throw in. Minutes later, I get my first hit.
The rod is shaking its way out of the
holder. Grabbing on to it quickly, I
steady myself for the fight ahead. By
the time I release this signature 12pound Dolly, the night sky is upon me
and the stars are gleaming brightly.
After a quiet row into the lodge, a
world-class gourmet meal will be a
fitting end to a perfect day.

specially blended “Dark Grey” Polypropylene felt sole blends in with the
stream bottom. This boot has the look of our higher end boots, but
without the cost.

WARRANTY & RETURN POLICY
BARE Fishing products are covered by a Lifetime Warranty against defects in workmanship and construction. Materials
are covered by a 1 year Material Warranty.
BARE Lifetime Warranty and 1 year Material Warranty do not include damage caused by normal wear, leaks caused by
punctures or damage due to improper care, miss-use, fire, theft, or intentional damage. These warranties are limited to
repair or replacement of the product only, and do not cover direct, indirect, consequential, incidental or any other type of
damage resulting from the use of the product.
RETURN POLICY & PROCEEDURE
1. Obtain a return authorization number from Customer Service (1.800.663.0111).
2. Return pre-paid in original packaging clean and dry. Please be sure to include a contact name, return shipping
address, e-mail address and a phone number.
NOTE: Collect shipments will be refused. Returned products that are not clean will be subject to a $25.00 cleaning
fee.

3. If the suspected defect is covered by our warranty, we will return-ship the product repaired or replaced, freight
prepaid. If the suspected defect does not fall within our warranty, we will advise of the estimated repair costs. Please
provide a contact name and number for this purpose.
NOTE: BARE reserves the right to determine whether to repair or replace any BARE product covered by this
warranty and the right to replace any discontinued model with the newer models when necessary. Colors may vary
between the original and replacement.
4. Product returns are subject to a 20% re-stocking fee. Prior years' product or, discontinued products are not
returnable. Return freight must be prepaid. Call-Tags will not be issued.
5. Return product in the original package or in packaging affording a degree of protection equal to the original
packaging.
30 DAY QUICK-FIX OVER-THE-COUNTER REPLACEMENT WARRANTY
We offer a 30-day over-the-counter replacement warranty for all BARE waders that leak within 30 days due to defects in
workmanship and construction. Waders should be returned to the retailer where they were originally purchased, or an
authorized BARE retailer. BARE’s 30 Day Quick-Fix over-the-counter replacement policy applies to those issues clearly
covered by BARE’s Lifetime Warranty or the Material Warranty as approved by a BARE authorized dealer. If a warranty
issue arises that is unclear to the retailer, the standard warranty and process will apply. All non-warranty claims such as
abuse, excessive wear, leaks due to punctures do not qualify for 30 day over-the-counter replacement.
NOTE: Product may or may not be in stock at the time of replacement. Therefore, a shipping lead-time may be required
to replace product.
