HISTORY
In 1983, Mitchell Katz, along with his sister Lesley (his next of kin, therefore “Katz-Kin”), started
a small leather desk accessory company in Los Angeles. Mitch soon found that he was having
greater success selling leather hides to local automotive upholstery shops. Eventually he
realized that by creating patterns for the cloth seat covers of popular vehicles that didn’t have
leather as an option and then offering complete ready-to-install interiors he could save those upholstery shops a lot of time. The first Katzkin interior - a 1986 Honda Accord kit - was an instant
hit and it created a demand for Katzkin’s leather interiors that has fueled the company’s remarkable growth ever since.
From a small, garage-based two-man operation to this 100,000 square-foot facility staffed with
over 475 employees, Katzkin has become the industry’s undisputed leading manufacturer of
aftermarket leather interiors. Katzkin offers more than 2000 interior patterns distributed by a
network of over 2500 authorized installers throughout North America, and our facility ships up to

SAFETY WARRANTY
SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!
In the early 1990’s, Katzkin took the lead in our industry by being proactively involved with safety issues.
We began by ensuring that the construction of our seat covers provided for the proper deployment of side
impact airbags. As part of this process, we initiated both in-house and independent testing of our covers.
These tests demonstrated that our covers, when properly installed, did not interfere with the operation of
the side impact airbags.
Katzkin then set an industry precedent by backing our product with a $51 million product liability insurance
policy, issued by the world’s highest rated insurance company.
In 2002, we began researching and testing our interiors for the impending new federal regulation requiring
the introduction of Occupant Classification Systems (OCS). Again, testing showed that our interiors, when
properly installed, did not interfere with the operation of the Occupant Classification System.
Before the year was over, we created our Katzkin OCS Manual, a guide to understanding these new safety
systems.
As of today, we are the ONLY aftermarket leather interior company approved by a major OE manufacturer for
installation of our covers on their vehicles equipped with OCS. And we continue to test our product using
the top independent research laboratory in the country – the same lab that the OE’s and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration use.

FORD LICENSING PROGRAM
In 2008, Ford Motor Company joined forces with Katzkin Leather to provide their dealers and customers with
the power of vehicle personalization through the infinite interior customizing options offered by Katzkin.
Now, customers can order a fully customized Katzkin interior for their vehicles at any Ford dealership’s parts
counter.
Throughout 2007, Ford conducted extensive testing of Katzkin’s products and the results have been that
Katzkin interiors are now backed by Ford’s own warranty. Moreover, Ford even approves the installation of
Katzkin interiors on select vehicles equipped with advanced airbag technology.
Ford Motor Company wanted their customers to have the choice of more than just the typical gray and beige
leather interiors offered by other OEM’s. Through Katzkin and Ford’s parts order system, all Ford, Lincoln
and Mercury dealers can have interiors as unique as the people that drive them with more than 100 available
colors and materials. And options such as piping, perforation, contrast stitching, two-tones, and official
Ford logo embroidery are all available only through this special program at no additional charge.
From start to finish, custom interiors for your Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles
are now easier than ever because of the new partnership between
Katzkin Leather and Ford Motor Company.
