Dealerships CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s inc design . planning . interiors Corporate Facility Programs | Dealerships Volkswagen of America: Marketplace & White Frame From 2008 to 2012 Cityscape designed over 150 ‘Marketplace’ and ‘White Frame’ dealerships as Volkswagen of America’s national design architect. Mercedes-Benz: Autohaus From 2008 to 2011, Cityscape participated in the adaptation of the ‘Autohaus’ program for several new and renovated facilities. Ford: Trustmark & Trustmark II From 1999 to 2006 Cityscape managed the overall program and design of over 600 dealership facilities nationwide. Lincoln Mercury: Signature, Gallery, & Trustmark II From 2002 to 2006, Cityscape co-managed Lincoln Mercury’s national ‘Gallery’ program; designing 40-60 facilities per year, with 110 designs completed in 2005 alone, consisting of new-build, renovation, retrofit, and dealership conversions. In 2012, Cityscape served as Architect of Record for the converssion of 3 Lincoln Trustmark II dealerships. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Hines Park Lincoln | Trustmark II inc design . planning . interiors Plymouth Township, Michigan To meet Ford’s new ‘Trustmark II’ image program at Hines Park Lincoln, Cityscape provided construction documents for this 39,000 sf dealership renovation. A new metal panel and curtain wall facade enlarged the showroom by 2,000 sf. A new service reception drive, frameless glass offices, and dark wood laminate provide the interior an atmosphere of modern luxury. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Wolverine Harley-Davidson inc design . planning . interiors Clinton Township, Michigan This Wolverine Harley-Davidson dealership is one of the ten largest in the nation. Ranked number one in the U.S. for sales and service, this 42,000 square-foot, two-story dealership pays homage to the original factory design from the early 1900’s. Special features include a motorized bike display/lift and a mezzanine ‘gallery’ showing some of Harley’s finest. The Wolverine Den, located on the second floor, is a step up from the typical customer lounge and brings a clean, traditional flair to an otherwise industrial facility. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Jaguar of Novi inc design . planning . interiors Novi, Michigan This 22,000 sf facility, completed in 2002, has been featured in commercials, advertisements, and on multiple magazine covers. Its straightforward, bold design reflects exclusive Jaguar styling; making it a perfect candidate to be used for the Jaguar XL international product launch. The curvilinear theme is carried through the entrance statement and service entry. A serpentine wall and large oversized masonry units create an elegant backdrop for the autogarden display. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Mercedes-Benz Prestige Autohaus inc design . planning . interiors St. Clair Shores, Michigan Prestige Automotive Group commissioned Cityscape to renovate an existing warehouse into a premier Mercedes-Benz facility. Taking cues from the corporate Mercedes-Benz ‘Bauhaus’ design, Cityscape’s refined ‘Autohaus’ concept was one of the first constructed in the United States. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Manhattan Volkswagen | Exterior inc design . planning . interiors Manhattan, New York Cityscape Architects, Inc. was responsible for the facade design and the interior construction documents for the $20 million, 260,000sf renovation to a 1922 Albert Kahn building on 11th Avenue. Volkswagen hired Cityscape to create a dynamic design that reflected the brand’s ‘White Frame’ architectural style. Exterior column cladding was removed to allow new curtain wall glazing to span continuously within the property setback line, allowing an expansive view of showroom vehicles. The two-storey showroom space was achieved by the removal of an existing second floor. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Dirito Brothers Volkswagen inc design . planning . interiors Walnut Creek, California Cityscape Architects, Inc. and their West-Coast affiliate RPR were hired by Volkswagen of America to design a ‘White Frame’ flagship store. Sited in the heart of the Walnut Creek central business district, ten buildings were removed from eight adjoining properties to allow room for this 30,000 sf sales and service building. A two-story glass and metal framed facade, with internal light trough allows vehicles to be prominently displayed to the busy adjacent intersection. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Manhattan Volkswagen | Interior inc design . planning . interiors Manhattan, New York Cityscape redesigned this Manhattan dealership interior to meet Volkswagen’s new brand standards. A 2-story sales space was created, and the entire plan reorganized. Program finishes and custom enhancements including: two active video display walls, accent lighting, and a high end glass handrail system were provided. Two storey’s of vehicles along the exterior glass walls display mechandised vehicles 24 hours a day. The modern German character is reinforeced in the expressed struture of the new glass and aluminum handrail system. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Parkway Chrysler Jeep inc design . planning . interiors Clinton Township, Michigan Cityscape designed this premier dealership to rival a five-star hotel. The facility features a 28 foot tall atrium, and 12,000 square foot showroom with separate display areas for Chrysler and Jeep products. DaimlerChrysler Motors recruited five-star dealer Chuck Riley to manage, own, and operate this new Metro-Detroit ‘Alpha’ store location. Says Riley, “We are redefining the Automobile dealership in America. This new dealership provides exceptional customer friendly services and reflects everything I have learned and wanted for our customers from my 40 years in the car business.” photos courtesy of Jim Babala & Laszlo Regos CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Liberty Hyundai inc design . planning . interiors New Hudson, Michigan Cityscape Architects, Inc. teamed up with Jay Feldman in 2008 to design a new Hyundai facility. The blue metal panel rotunda with Hyundai brand signage and featured vehicle on an autolift provides great exposure from the adjacent freeway. This dealership’s design and detailing responds to the area’s ‘transitional’ building style. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Feldman Kia inc design . planning . interiors Novi, Michigan In 2011, Cityscape created the first freestanding Kia branded dealership in the Detroit Metro area. Cityscape designed an efficient 10,000 sf plan that incorporates a 4 car showroom, 4 service bays, a service reception drive and customer lounge. This compact building is located adjacent to the Feldman Chevrolet building, and is the third facility Cityscape has created for the Feldman Automotvie Group CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Vyletel Volkswagen inc design . planning . interiors Sterling Heights, Michigan Cityscape provided schematic design through construction documents for the renovation of this 31,000 sf dealership. The showroom was expanded and now features a 22’ tall ACM panel and curtain wall facade with continuous light trough at the perimeter. All customer contact areas were reorganized and renovated to meet Volkswagen’s ‘White Frame’ brand image program. Cityscape provided schematic design services for more than 100 White Frame facilities and served as Architect of Record on several dealerships. New finishes, fixtures dn entry icon out front were required to meet General Motors’ new image program. Custom light fixtures were selected and installed in the 2 story showroom space that bring sparkle to the cars, and a human scale to the space. A serpentine curve sweeps across the entire showroom, while the vibrant orange accent paint in the sales offices warms the space. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Aston Martin of Troy inc design . planning . interiors Troy, Michigan The Elder Automotive group commissioned Cityscape to provide construction documents for one of the first free standing Aston Martin dealerships in the USA. This 2,800 sf dealership’s showroom was built within 1/8” of square, allowing the precut Italian travertine slabs to fit precisely, This was accomplished through Cityscape’s detailing and foresight, our early engagement with an excellent general contractor, and Ford Land realty’s oversight. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Jay Chevrolet inc design . planning . interiors Highland, Michigan Cityscape was hired by Jay Feldman President and CEO of Feldman Automotive to renovate his 12 year old Jay Chevrolet facility. Cityscape worked closely with the owner and General Motor’s facility image design team to bring the dealership into compliance with Chevrolet’s new image program. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Cadillac of Novi inc design . planning . interiors Novi, Michigan Cityscape transformed this former Hummer dealership into a facility that meets Cadillac’s brand image program. Cadillac’s exclusivity, luxury and refinement are highlighlighed in the use of natural limestone. Cadillac of Novi sold the most Cadillacs in the nation in 2011. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Jim Ellis Volkswagen inc design . planning . interiors Marietta, Georgia Cityscape was hired by Volkswagen of America in 2008 to design and provide construction documentation for Jim Ellis Volkswagen. A two story, 3,500 sf showroom was added, and the entire facility was renovated to meet Volkswagen’s ‘Marketplace’ brand image. Cityscape created a comprehensive phased development plan to maintain dealership operations while the existing showroom became a outdoor display deck, and a new showroom and service building were constructed. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Bay Ridge Ford inc design . planning . interiors Brooklyn, New York Cityscape converted this 1970’s blockbuster to meet Ford’s new image program. The 7,000 s.f. sales facility was completed in December 2010; only 3 months after beginning demolition work. BEFORE CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Homer Skelton Ford inc design . planning . interiors Memphis, Tennessee This facility is the country’s first to represent Ford’s new branding guidelines. Cityscape worked with a private capital dealer in Memphis, Tennessee to build this 52,000 square-foot Ford dealership. It contains many special features including: a ‘Mustang Cafe’, interactive customer center, truck center, and built-in car wash. Additionally, the 2-story showroom is framed by a sweeping glass curtainwall. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Maxey Ford inc design . planning . interiors Detroit, Michigan Cityscape transformed this abandoned 60 year-old dealership into a viable new design. While salvaging a large portion of the original structure, Cityscape tore down Riverside Ford’s old showroom. A new facade was constructed in front of the existing service department; bringing this expanded and renovated project into the iconic 2003 Ford ‘Trustmark’ image. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Varsity Lincoln inc design . planning . interiors Novi, Michigan Varsity Lincoln Mercury has been the number one Lincoln dealership in new car and SUV sales for over nine consecutive years. Cityscape was hired by both the Stanford Brothers and Ford Land to convert this existing facility into a Lincoln Mercury ‘Gallery’ design. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Sesi Volvo Lincoln inc design . planning . interiors Scio Township, Michigan This dual-brand dealership is one of three Lincoln Mercury Volvo facilities in the United States. Cityscape transformed this former pre-engineered metal building skating rink into a brand approved dealership. The site design in this project included a vehicle design plaza built over an underground retention basin. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Suburban Volvo inc design . planning . interiors Troy, Michigan The Troy Motor Mall is home to Suburban Volvo. As part of The Suburban Collection, this 29,000 square-foot dealership focuses on commitment and service. Suburban offers its customers an exciting environment where the next generation of Volvo vehicles are always on display. The architectural sight lines and showroom’s curvilinear forms provide an open, airy feeling while the materials maintain a crisp, clean look. To provide comfort for waiting customers, the dealership incorporates a cafe, lounge, full service department, and kids’ play area. Before CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s San Francisco Automobile Company inc design . planning . interiors San Francisco, California For close to a decade, this 1920’s building languished on the corner of Van Ness and California, a blight to San Francisco’s storied ‘auto row’. Cityscape worked closely with Ford Land Motor Co., Fisher Development, Inc. and the city of San Francisco to renovate the dilapidated 38,000 sf facility into a new Ford Lincoln Mercury showroom, offices, and car storage facility. Project highlights include: Seismic upgrades and extensive site work, new storefront and updated facade, new grand entry, and a new parking courtyard adjacent to the building. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s Tasca Ford Lincoln Mazda inc design . planning . interiors Cranston, Rhode Island As the first new-build Premier Automotive Group facility to be completed; this 68,000 sf building incorporates three of the major Ford brands, a pre-owned showroom, as well as an autogarden at the rear of the building. CITYSCAPE a r c h i t e c t s inc design . planning . interiors Manhattan Auto 2004 Renovation 11th Avenue, New York City In 2002, Cityscape Architects, Inc. was commissioned to undertake a $15 million renovation of Ford’s flagship sales and service facility in mid-town Manhattan. The focus of this work was to create an open and inviting sales experience by replanning and renovating 120,000 square-feet of automotive showroom and customer service areas, designing a contemporary street level facade, and Land Rover sales and service areas. All construction took place while the existing sales and service areas remained operational. Work was bid in seven coordinated project phases over 14 months of construction. The facility, completed in April 2004, contains Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, Mazda, and Land Rover facilities. In addition to making the facility accessible, intimate, and exciting, the redesign heightens the aesthetic beauty, brand, and functionality of luxury vehicles. “The New York consumer has unique needs and expectations and we are meeting those needs and expectations by fully integrating all functions and conveniences within our building,” said Gary Flom, president and CEO of the Manhattan Automobile Company. His diverse experience encompasses automobile dealerships, office buildings, recreational facilities, mausoleums, specialty retail shops, financial facilities, and shopping center designs. Prior to the 1999 establishment of Cityscape Architects, Mr. Dellicolli was Vice President of Design for an international design firm. He was responsible for design and coordination of all on-going projects including office buildings, banks, power centers, department stores, specialty retail shops, and auto dealerships. Previously, Mr. Dellicolli held the position of Senior Designer/ Firm Associate with a 75-man local firm recognized nationally for mixed-use retail design.
