DOUGLAS PARK COMMUNITY CENTRE It has been a busy Fall season at Douglas Park Community Centre. Some of the highlights include: the now annual Open House where we showcase the best the centre has to offer, a big milestone celebrating the Wednesday Social Club’s 50th anniversary, as well as the Halloween for Kids event. This Fall saw continued investment in key programs. For children and youth we have expanded afterschool care and increased enrolment in the RALLY and young leadership programs. We are pleased to welcome Lorelei Lauten, Recreation Programmer II from Hillcrest CC. She will be focused on helping us expand our seniors programs and older adult programs. Check out the large number of new programs we are adding to the Winter 2016 program. The pottery studio is also growing, and we are hosting a pottery show and sale in the Spring, It will be a great opportunity for students to sell their amazing creations and the community to take home a unique piece of art. The Playground Committee has kicked off. We have started fundraising for the additional funds needed to make the new Douglas Park playground as amazing as our existing one. Throughout the upcoming year, we will be updating with designs and funding events for the community. If you wish to get involved or discuss sponsorship opportunities, please contact the centre. We look forward to working with the community. Thank you to all the volunteers, board members and staff who continue to make Douglas Park Community Centre the heart of such a great neighbourhood.
