Housing Residence Life - University of Louisville
We want eating on campus to be easy and convenient. Each fall and spring semester, every student living on campus is automatically assigned
a meal plan. A meal plan is a pre-paid account used to eat on campus with a simple swipe of your Cardinal Card. (Plans can differ based on
whether or not a student has a kitchen in their residence hall room). The meal plan is loaded on your student ID and becomes active the day you
move to campus. Meal plans are comprised of meals and flex points. Meals may be used at the all-you-care-to-eat dining hall Ville Grill, or for
breakfast and lunch combos across campus at Global Market. One meal is valid for one entrance to Ville Grill or one combo at Global Market.
Meals expire at the end of each semester. Flex points are a dollar-for-dollar declining balance-type account that is accepted at any on-campus
dining location. Flex points earn an automatic 6 percent discount with each purchase. Flex points roll over from fall to spring semester and expire
after spring finals.

It’s your home away from home
Living on campus puts you at the center of life at UofL, and provides you easy access to services,
facilities, classrooms, the library, dining options and so much more. Students who live on campus at
UofL are retained at a 15% higher rate than non-residents. Starting in Fall 2012, all UofL first-year
students under 21 will be required to live on campus, unless living at home with a parent or guardian.
For full details and additional policy exceptions, visit louisville.edu/housing/first-year-live-on-policy.html.

More than just a place to sleep
•
Living Learning Communities - a community of students living in a section of a residence hall
with staff, curricular and co-curricular programing and resources dedicated to that program
only. Students in a LLC are registered for the common courses associated with each LLC.
LLCs currently available include engineering, honors science, leadership quest and pre-dental
hygiene.
•
Rustin Community - a themed housing option in University Tower Apartments for students
interested in social justice.
•
Leadership Quest - a themed housing option in Center Hall for students interested in campus
leadership experience.
•
Residence Student Association (RSA) - provides programming on a campus-wide basis. All
residence hall students are automatic members, with executive officer positions available.
Services include the collegiate welcome and the exams care package.
•
First-year students will be encouraged to participate in programs and activities around the
following focus areas: financial planning, celebrating differences, academic support, campus
resources, drug and alcohol awareness and community service.
•
The new Student Recreation Center is coming in fall 2013. The $38-million, 128,000-squarefoot student recreation center (SRC) will be located off South Fourth Street between Kurz
Hall and Billy Minardi Hall. The facility will offer UofL students the latest fitness and weight
equipment, as well as increase the number of student sport leagues, fitness classes and clubs.
•

including bamboo floors, large windows, high ceilings and ceiling fans. All residents in University
