Looking back at the history of QIAU, one can see the progress track record that this University has achieved . At the outset, QIAU offered 2
majors(Computer and Industrial Engineering).Today, the University offers
130 majors ranging from associate degrees to Ph.D degrees at five faculties
within a modern, dynamic and scenic environment.
Taking into consideration the country’s demands with regards to human
resources, QIAU aimed to meet these needs. Today, the University has
achieved the global standards .
The World will face an inevitably knowledge-based future where the great investments will be made in new technologies. Consequently, the organizations that will
take account of these changes and take actions accordingly will come out victorious
and accomplished.
Taking on a comprehensible approach to the development through training experts
and knowledge production at the outset ,Qazvin Islamic Azad University(QIAU) set
as its final goal turning into a branded university. To this end and since its establishment, QIAU has followed a continuous path of development and expansion, being
considered today as a center for producing the knowledge as well as training talented people. This is because QIAU’s mangers have defined a mission for training
new generation of effective managers our society needs.
Being located 140 Kms from Tehran, QIAU enjoys a special geographical situation.
This University has had many achievements in both national and international competitions.

In today’s world, international and cross-cultural communications play a crucial role in development of countries and improve the people’s quality of life. Learning a language other than the mother tongue is more than
a need for any human beings. Only that way the confines of knowledge can be removed.
The Language Center at Qazvin Islamic Azad University is a cross-faculty, multi-disciplinary unit under the
immediate supervision of QIAU President that supports the University Students to enjoy a higher quality of
life in the future by equipping them with international languages.
Language Center’s overarching mission is to support the internationalization macro-policies of the university
through implementing intensive and innovative strategic planning and development in Language Teaching
Technology and by benefiting from a wide variety of cutting-edge communication technology.
Our main mission is to provide QIAU language learners with opportunities to be critical learners and to help
them advance in their career as effectively and quickly as possible. Integrating high-tech developments with
advancements in Foreign/Second Language Acquisition, on one hand, and recruiting knowledgeable enthusiastic staff, on the other hand, Language Center strives to offer high-quality instruction to QIAU students who

Research Centers
As QIAU offers various industry-related majors and aims to
contribute to society by achieving the best status in terms of
knowledge production, many research centers have been established. These centers are as follows:
Mechatronics Research Laboratory ( MRL)
MRL was established in 2003.MRL is an independent research center working under the supervision of QIAU and
one of its main activities is participating in international RoboCup competitions. RoboCup is one of the most prestigious
annual robotic competitions that aims at promoting Artificial
Intelligence, Robotics and related fields. It is an attempt to
combine Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Robotics research by providing a standard problem where a wide range
of technologies can be integrated and examined.

Construction Industry Research Center ( CCRC )
The construction and concrete research center was established in 2005. The ever-growing increase in
the application of concrete in different fields of construction and industry has made us research for and
formulate concrete with optimal properties and invent different types of concrete for specific purposes.
CCRC aims to collaborate with construction industry in Iran by conducting scientific research as well as
commissioning projects to improve the quality of construction products.

Research Center for Industrial and Mechanical Engineering
Industrial & Mechanical Research Center was founded in 2009 under the auspices of
the Almighty God and the continuing support of the esteemed president of university, Dr. Mousakhani. The center, supervised by the dean of Faculty of Industrial &
Mechanical Engineering, is aimed at paving the way for carrying out more research
as well as to support the research proposals offered by students and academic members of Faculty of Industrial & Mechanical Engineering.
Center for Management & Productivity
This center was established, aiming to generate new ideas concerning organization
and management. This center seeks to 1- promote the theoretical and applied research both qualitatively and qualitatively 2-help to improve the performance of
other organizations through carrying out applied research as well providing the expertise they need.
This center seeks to turn into an internally known research center.

Vehicle & Mechanics Research Center
Auto-making industry is an important sector in today’ economy as it can bring considerable profit to the country and
contribute to the GDP. Thus, it is of enormous importance
to adopt the cutting edge technologies in this sector so as to
attract larger number of customers. To this end, QIAU as
one of the renowned research hub in Iran established the
Vehicle Research Center.
Parax Hybrid Car
QIAU’s researchers at Mechanic & Vehicle Research Center
designed this car which uses both fossil fuel and electrical
power and achieved the 1st Place in National Vehicle Design
Competitions (Sharif University of Technology).The car has
the following specifications:
•Electric motor Power: 30kw
•Top speed: 220 Km/h
• fuel consumption decrease: 35%

Vehicle & Mechanics Research Center has achieved many
awards in national and international electric vehicle competitions. (Parax Electric Motorcycle, Parax Hybrid car, Afer UAV,
Havin Solar Car).
Havin or shining sun, designed by Researchers at Qazvin Islamic
Azad University is an upgraded version of its predecessor Havin
1, which ranked 17th in the 2011 World Solar Challenge in Australia. The Automobile has a composite body and is nearly noiseless and emission-free. Compared with its predecessor, Havin 2
is smaller, speedy and more powerful.
Havin II Solar Car
Havin 2 weighs 220-kilogram (485 pound) with a length of 4.5
meters (15 feet), width measuring 1.8 meters (6 feet) and height
of 1.1 meters (4 feet). It contains a cockpit-like canopy for the
driver , with photovoltaic cells covering some 6 square meters
(65 square feet) of its surface. The Automobile’s lithium-Ion batteries can drive it up to four hours between 90 to 150 kph (56 to
93 mph).
All processes including design, analysis and making of HAVIN
II have been done by mechanical, electrical, aerospace and control research students of Qazvin Islamic Azad University. The
mechanical and electrical systems of HAVIN II have been optimized and redesigned to make it more efficient.

Havin 2 participated in the U.S.A Solar Car Competitions and secured the 3rd place (speed category) in the event. The Vehicle
was evaluated as having the best dynamic and suspension system as
well as the best Asian solar vehicle in the competitions.
Quadro Two-Seat Electric Car
This electric vehicle called Quadro (Q1) was designed and made
by Parax Research Center. This car weighs 40 K.grms and can
drive 200 Kms at a speed of 80 km/hr on a 3-hour charging. The
car measuring 120 cm wide and 2 meters long can park easily on
streets and has no polluting effect.

This Electric Motorcycle was designed and made by QIAU’ researchers and achieved the 1st Place in National Vehicle Design
Competitions (Sharif University of Technology).

Afer UAV
QIAU’s students designed and built the Afer unmanned air vehicle (UAV) which can be used for filming and imagery purposes.
This plane can send the images and videos both off- line and online. These kinds of planes can be used for aerial checking of oil
pipelines as well as for exploring new oil reservoirs and military
purposes.
Afer weighs 18 K.gms and is made of wood and composite. It
can fly 50 minutes at the altitude of 350 and 770 meters in autopilot mode. This UAV achieved the 2nd place in national UAV
designing competitions held at Sharif University of Technology

Arian Micro Satellite
This satellite has been designed by QIAU’ researchers and
can orbit at high altitude. It can film and take images and
send them both on-line and off-line. This micro-satellite
can carry bio-capsule and measure the environmental parameters. This satellite achieved two awards in the 3rd international competitions.
Incubators Center of Technology
This center can contribute to the generation of new ideas and
provide a venue where both researchers and the industries can
cooperate and interact effectively. This center aims to promote
the students’ motivation for conducting research.
QIAU established this center for purpose of encouraging the students to get involved in generating innovative ideas as well as to
promote the competition among them.

QIAU’s renowned research achievements in international arenas
have inspired many international figures to pay a visit to the University.
As of now, 30 ambassadors from countries including Portugal,
Finland, Philippines, Russia, Sweden, Oman, etc. have visited the

International and National Achievements
Qazvin Islamic Azad University is renowned for its robotics developments in Iran. The university has taken wide steps in robotics and electronics development in Iran. Due to its striking
achievements in the field of Robotics(in international competitions of China, Japan, Germany, and Austria),QIAU has been
honored by the International RoboCup Federation to annually
host the National IranOpen RoboCup. Given these achievements,
QIAU’s president Dr. Morteza Mousakhani was appointed as the
chair of Iranian National RoboCup Committee in 2006. QIAU
has held 9 Annual International IranOpen RoboCup Competitions since 2006. Mechatronics Research Lab MRL robotic teams
have participated in World RoboCup Competitions, earning medals in various leagues.
Vehicle & Mechanics Research Center has achieved many
awards in national and international electric vehicle competitions. (Parax Electric Motorcycle, Parax Hybrid car, Afer UAV,
Havin Solar Car).
Havin I solar car participated in Australia solar competitions and
achieved 17th place ahead of American and Japanese universities. Havin II solar car participated in U.S.A solar Challenge and
