CamperForce Program
As those of you returning
CamperForce associates
remember, your first few
weeks at Amazon can be a
little intimidating. The size of
the facility, the acronyms that
seem to be a different
language, the hand-held scanners that act as if they have a
mind of their own, all contribute to that feeling of being
overwhelmed. This month we
want to talk a little about
your first few weeks, and
what to expect. At first, with
all the different tasks and
processes it will seem as if
you will never be able to
learn it all, but as the
CamperForce associates
who’ve gone before will tell
you, by week 3 and 4 you’ll be a
“veteran” assisting others. Got
questions? Send them to:
[email protected]
Or visit us on Facebook!
PROCESS PATH OF THE MONTH: Pack/Ship
Pack/Ship is composed of 3 main areas in the Fulfillment Center: Crisplant,
Single Toys, and VDF. Because of your flexibility and ability to operate in
each of these areas we are able to meet and exceed our customers’
expectations! Thanks for your willingness to do whatever it takes to make
sure our customer is happy!

Your Amazon CamperForce
experience will begin at an offsite “Meet & Greet” gathering.
That meeting will provide you an
opportunity to meet the CamperForce associates starting with
you. You’ll be able to arrange for
carpooling, dog-walking, and
other needs as well as meet your
CamperForce leadership team.
You’ll receive information about
where / when to report for your
first day and receive information
about the local community. More
detailed information will be provided
in upcoming editions of the CamperForce newsletter. Your first week at
Amazon is designed for training and
work conditioning. Everyone will
work less than a full-time schedule in
their 1st week so that the body may
become accustomed to standing on
concrete, and other environmental
conditions. On your first day in the
facility you’ll attend Safety School
and Orientation, and Day 2 begins
with your job specific Process
School. On Day 3 & 4, you’ll receive
a combination of process School
training as well as working in your
process with your Trainer,
Ambassadors, and CamperForce
Scouts. After this first week you’ll
transition to your regular shift and
schedule.

Fernley Focus
If you have already applied and submitted all of
your paperwork – Thank you! If you have not yet
applied, now is the time! We are enthusiastically
accepting additional applications for the
upcoming peak. To keep up with the ever
changing technology, we have updated our fax
machine to an electronic system which emails us
your fax. You will no longer receive busy signals or
be asked to refax something because it did not go
through the first time. Our new fax number is
(206) 922 – 5818.
Each month, we will highlight an exciting event
which will take place in the surrounding areas
during the CamperForce season. During
September, the world’s longest running air race is
the only place in the world where you can see five
days of real air racing with six classes
of aircraft competing in a variety of
race classes, military and historic
airplane displays and aerobatics
exhibitions. Planes reach speeds of
over 500 miles per hour. While
enjoying the races spectators can
visit the pits and watch race teams
work on their aircraft, browse any of
the hundreds of participating vendor’s booths, and enjoy a wide
variety of food and beverages. We
received feedback from several
campers who went last year that
they enjoyed it.
If you are not interested in the air race, there are
plenty of other activities during that time frame.
The Eldorado Great Italian Festival is a celebration
of food, culture, music and traditions of Italy. You
can sample everything from ravioli and lasagna to
risotto, Italian pizzas and polenta. For dessert you
can enjoy homemade Gelato or grab a piece of
melt-in-your-mouth tiramisu. The Italian Festival
also gives Italian families across the West Coast a
chance to compete in the highly anticipated Great
Italian Festival Sauce cook-off. Hailing from
Lombardia, Puglia, Sicily and so many more
portions of Italy, each family has a “secret recipe”
for sauce that guests can sample for themselves!
There’s also free live entertainment, a grape
stomp, bocce ball and Italian-inspired arts and
crafts booths.
Campbellsville Corner
This this month we want to tell you
about a wonderful opportunity for low
cost entertainment right here in
Campbellsville! The Central Kentucky
Arts Series is a non-profit organization
founded in Campbellsville, KY, in 1967,
by a group of local residents wishing
to establish an annual series of
professional programs in the arts for
the community. Each year, CamperForce associates tell us this is a great
value and quality entertainment for
the low cost! It’s nice to have a great
evening “out” without a big price tag!
The Series endeavors to serve all segments of
the community including senior citizens and
school children by providing programming
which is both accessible and of special interest
to them, as well as a diverse range of drama,
dance, and music programming.
Another resource for festivals, events, and
happenings in the Campbellsville and Central
Kentucky Area is KentuckyLiving.com
This monthly magazine is full of happenings
around the area as well around the state and is
a great resource when considering a day trip
during your stay in Campbellsville. In this
month’s edition, Kentucky Living explores
items that may be on your “bucket list”. If
you’ve ever considered the following then
you can accomplish it while here: Monarch
Butterfly Watch, watch for Bald Eagles, fly an
airplane, drive a race car, take a hot-air
balloon ride, take a zip line tour, go sky
diving, take the Mammoth Cave Wild Cave
tour, or view Kentucky’s Elk herd. There’s
something for everyone here in Kentucky!

Corporate News—Flash
Here’s an exciting announcement from Amazon regarding regarding AutoRip!
Amazon AutoRip Extends to Vinyl—Customers Now Receive Free MP3 Versions of Vinyl Records
Purchased From Amazon—Past, Present and Future
Customers who purchased vinyl records from Amazon dating back to 1998 will find MP3 versions
automatically added to their Cloud Player libraries – free of charge
AutoRip eliminates the challenge of making a digital copy of your vinyl records
Amazon today announced it has extended its popular AutoRip service to vinyl records. AutoRip was
introduced in January of this year to give customers free digital copies of CDs they purchase.
Starting today, when customers purchase an AutoRip vinyl record, a digital copy of that music will
be automatically added to their Cloud Player libraries where it will be available, free of charge,
for immediate playback or download. Customers no longer need to go through the hassle of making
a digital copy of a vinyl record. Additionally, customers who have purchased AutoRip records at
any time since Amazon first opened its Music Store in 1998 will find digital copies of those albums
in their Cloud Player libraries – also for free. Thousands of records, including titles from every
major record label, are available for AutoRip, and more titles are being added all the time—just
look for the AutoRip logo.
“AutoRip has been wildly popular with customers since it launched earlier this year,” said Steve
Boom, Vice President of Digital Music for Amazon. “It’s a fun experience to suddenly find CDs you
purchased just today—or 15 years ago—added automatically and free of charge to your digital
library. We’re thrilled to extend this experience to vinyl records. Many of our music customers are
vinyl fans and it’s traditionally been very difficult to make digital versions of vinyl records—now
customers can enjoy the albums they buy wherever they are, not just when they have access to a
record player.”
AutoRip features include: Free digital copies: Amazon customers who purchase AutoRip vinyl records get free MP3 versions of the albums delivered directly to their Cloud Player libraries—
automatically, immediately, and at no cost—no more hassling with finding a way to get them onto
your favorite devices.
For vinyl record purchases dating back to 1998: MP3 versions of AutoRip records that customers
have purchased since the launch of Amazon’s music store in 1998 will also be delivered to their
Cloud Player libraries for free.
Enjoy everywhere: Music can be played instantly from any Kindle Fire, Android phone or tablet,
iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Samsung TV, Roku, Sonos, from any web browser, and from Ford SYNC
Applink-equipped vehicles, giving customers the freedom to enjoy music from more devices than any
other major cloud locker music service.

Amazon Acronyms
If you are new to the Amazon CamperForce program we want to help you become familiar with the language we speak!
There are some words we use that have very specific meanings and can seem like a foreign language. We’ll introduce them
to you now, so when you arrive you can speak like a true Amazonian!
PIT (Powered Industrial Truck): Otherwise known as forklifts, stock pickers, walkies, etc. PIT may only operate in certain
designated areas and lanes. These areas and lanes are colored orange. Pedestrian traffic is prohibited in these areas and
lanes. At intersections, The PIT driver and pedestrian are both required to make eye contact before proceeding.
VTO (Voluntary Time Off): Amazon uses VTO to balance labor needs in the Fulfillment Center. Whenever there is a backlog
of customer orders or merchandise to be processed, Overtime is called to ensure that customer demand is met.
Conversely, if, for example, a scheduled delivery of merchandise is delayed, or if scheduled merchandise processing is
completed earlier than anticipated, VTO will be offered. Taking VTO allows the associate to leave work early without pay.
Every effort will be made to find work for those that choose not to take VTO.
Referrals
Did you know that Amazon paid out thousands of dollars last year in Referral Bonuses? The process is very simple:
1. To refer a potential candidate, please fill out the referral form you received in your new hire packet and return it
via email or fax to the location you’ll be working at this season
2.
You are eligible for a referral bonus when you refer a potential candidate that hasn’t previously worked for
Amazon before and is not currently interviewing for an open position.
3.
If the candidate you refer is hired and indicates during the interview process that you referred them, you will receive a $50 bonus after the new associate has worked for Amazon.com for 30 days. You must completely fill out
the CamperForce Referral Form at the time of referral and be employed by Amazon.com at the time the referral is
eligible to be paid in order to receive the bonus.
4.
Employees involved in the hiring decisions are not eligible for a referral bonus.
