Amateur musicians from all horizons, it is with pleasure and
confidence that I invite you to discover our 2015 summer
program. For 62 years, the CAMMAC Music Centre has offered
the ideal place to make music in a relaxed and non-competitive
atmosphere, make new friends with similar interests, learn from
passionate teachers and discover new repertoire. You can even
improve your French, since we are a bilingual camp.

settings, the Coronation Mass, K. 317, while the orchestra will focus on the

With Heinrich Schütz’s Latin Magnificat SWV 468 as our main choral
work, the week will focus on the music of German Baroque masters
Samuel Scheidt, Johann Schein and Heinrich Schütz. There will also be
classes featuring Medieval and Renaissance music.

Follow the irresistible call of Celtic music in this week that offers both traditional and classical music. Conductor Patricia Abbott will lead the choir
in Welsh composer Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, a
CAMMAC premiere. We also welcome for the first time one of Canada’s most
multi-faceted singer-songwriter-performers, Linda Morrison. And you won’t

Ouimet and Chris Smith lead a stellar group of
teachers, so bring your clarinet, flute, trombone,
trumpet or doublebass for a workout. Robert
Filion will lead everyone in the recently premiered Missa Kreyol, a new concert mass by Glenn
McClure that celebrates Haitian culture in a
multi-ethnic world.

Our traditional classical choral
music week is getting a facelift this year! Singers will prepare a complete
performance with orchestra of the beloved Fauré Requiem as well as French
opera choruses, with a number of opportunities for solo singing. For the first
time, singers will also have the chance to sing in small vocal ensembles (1 to
a part). And we are also offering an auditioned chamber music program for
advanced players, who will focus on their ensembles during the day and play
in the orchestra in the evening. This week also features the summer’s only
classical guitar classes.

BURSARIES AVAILABLE
The CAMMAC spirit also means caring and accessibility! These are
the values that prompt CAMMAC to offer several bursaries each year
to enable less fortunate musicians (no age limit) to participate in the
summer programs. We invite persons who need financial assistance
to complete the form on the website and send it to us by June 1, 2015.
You can also ask for an application form from the National Office –
1-888-622-8755, extension 228.
EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT
If you register and pay in full before March 1, you will receive a
discount of 5%.
BRING YOUR FRIENDS
Promotion - Bring Your Friends! - $100 rebate on your registration if
you bring a new adult participant and $50 rebate for a new student
participant!!!
DISCOUNT FOR A SECOND WEEK
If you register for more than one week, you will receive 10% discount
on any additional week.
CHILDREN’S PROGRAM
The program, designed for children aged 4½ to 11 years, offers music,
arts & crafts, dance and sports. All child participants must be accompanied by an adult who will be responsible for their supervision
outside program hours (8:30 am to 1:00 pm). Sports activities are also
planned for kids in the evening.
TEEN PROGRAM
Teens 12 to 17 years old follow the regular adult program supplemented by a few special courses. Teens must be accompanied by an
adult (parent or designated guardian) participating in the music
program.
CAMMAC FESTIVAL
On Sundays during the summer, from July 5 to August 16, CAMMAC
presents morning concerts (11 am to noon) followed by brunch. These
well-known concerts, given by renowned musicians, are free to participants and open to the general public (ticket prices on our Website).

CLASS REGISTRATION
Registration for classes takes place Sunday evening upon arrival at
the Music Centre. A list of all classes, times and locations is posted in
the Reception area. You can consult the list to make your choices.
CLASSES REQUIRING PRE-REGISTRATION
Some classes, as listed below, require pre-registration. Please
complete the appropriate form, available on the website or from the
National Office. Note that the deadlines for submitting the forms vary
from class to class.
Participants in chamber music, small ensembles and combos: it is
necessary to determine in advance participants’ mastery of their
instrument beginner, intermediate or advanced. To determine your
level, please consult the guides available on the website or from the
National Office.
Note: Please check off the appropriate box for your level on the
registration form so that we can form ensembles and groups.
ADVANCED CHAMBER MUSIC – Week 6
NEW
Advanced amateur musicians can register for our new advanced
chamber music in week 6. They must pre-register and send us a CD
or DVD or YouTube link to audition. Deadline is June 30.
CHAMBER MUSIC – Weeks 1, 3, 4, 5, 7
The chamber music program is for experienced amateur musicians
with good sight-reading skills who play an orchestra instrument or the
piano. Those who register in the chamber music program must give
chamber music priority in their schedule.
The following levels are required for registration:
Strings: intermediate and advanced
Winds: advanced
Pianists: advanced (limit: four pianists Weeks 1, 3, 4;
three in Week 5)
Priority will be given to pre-formed groups, with a limit of one
pre-formed group per person (you may also be placed in other groups).
Group members will be notified about the ensembles to which they
have been assigned, to allow them to prepare a work before their
arrival at the Centre.

Registrations received after the deadlines will be considered, but
placement in a group cannot be guaranteed.
In weeks 1, 3 and 4, less-advanced string and wind players will be
able to register upon arrival in the Introduction to Ensemble Playing
classes. Intermediate and advanced pianists who cannot be given a
chamber music group can register in the piano and piano 4-hands
classes.
SMALL ENSEMBLES – Week 2, including TRIO SONATAS
Small ensembles will be formed as follows: Trio sonatas, quartets,
quintets, etc. Level A is required for recorders (please consult the
guide); intermediate and advanced levels for continuo players. Groups
will be formed on June 5.
ADVANCED PIANO, PIANO 4-HANDS – Weeks 1, 3, 4
and HARPSICHORD – Week 2
COMBOS – Week 5
Combos are small jazz ensembles (winds, strings, piano, guitar,
doublebass, drums and voice). Please check that you have the
prerequisites required, and send us the form by June 12.
Registrants must give priority to their combo in their schedule. Late
registrants can join combos only if there is still room. Combos must be
given priority in your schedule. If you don’t have the necessary
prerequisites, you will be able to register for the Introduction to
improvisation class on Sunday evening.
NEW
SMALL VOCAL ENSEMBLES – Week 6
This class is intended for experienced amateur singers with good
sight-reading ability and who can hold their own part in group. The
groups (from trio to sextets) will be formed July 2.
SONG INTERPRETATION / VOICE MASTER CLASS
Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 6
This class is intended for singers who have already taken classical
voice lessons and have prepared repertoire in advance (lieder, French
art songs, opera excerpts, etc.). There is a limit of 12 students per
week for this class.
VOCAL JAZZ (solo) – Week 5
This class is for participants 15 years of age and up. The repertoire
must be prepared in advance. Registration is limited to 16 participants.
MUSICAL THEATRE (solo) – Week 7
This class is for participants 15 years of age and up. The musical
comedy repertoire must be prepared in advance. Registration is
limited to 16 participants.

USEFUL INFORMATION
INSTRUMENTS
Participants need to bring their own instruments. You can purchase
plastic Yamaha soprano and alto recorders at our Tuck Shop. It is possible to rent a viola da gamba (Week 2) or a Celtic harp (Week 4). For violas da gamba: please check the appropriate box on the registration form.

LODGING
Fees include lodging in the Main Building or in the Lake House, meals
and snacks starting with Sunday supper through to brunch the following
Sunday.
CAMPING
Fees include a camping site, snacks and Sunday brunch. The camping
area has showers, tables, refrigerators, and a washer and dryer. Campers
and their guests can purchase meal tickets for the cafeteria.
CAR POOLING and SHUTTLE SERVICE
