With the Premier CIO Forum, attendees across the region have come to expect a dynamic agenda with relevant, up-to-the-minute topics and exciting speakers who will share their wealth of knowledge and experience, helping you to gain practical insights into your business challenges. The conference includes powerful keynotes, informative breakouts, discussions with subject-matter experts, and cutting-edge solution providers. Our partner, The Society for Information Management (SIM), is an organization intended for Senior IT Executives to discuss and share experiences related to technology and business structure. The group’s mission is to provide an open forum, devoid of sales and marketing solicitations, for area executives with IT decision-making responsibility to network and share their experiences. The Premier CIO Forum adheres to all guidelines which prohibit solicitation by anyone, except for the requested solution providers who have been hand-picked by the Executive Advisory Council of CIOs and Senior IT Executives specific to this region. We have worked diligently to put together a stimulating and focused agenda, bringing together experts, visionaries and professionals from the IT industry. We look forward to sharing this exciting conference with you. THE NORTHEAST OHIO CHAPTER OF SIM IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THIS EXCLUSIVE EXECUTIVE IT CONFERENCE. Tom Wojnarowski Sasi Pillay CIO Regional Income Tax Agency CTO NASA Jennie Zamberlan Marc Di Francisco President NEOSIM President & CEO Premier Event Management Jennie Zamberlan 3 Agenda for 7:30am CHECK-IN/REGISTRATION OPEN - Foyer 7:30am-8:45am PEER-TO-PEER NETWORKING/BUFFET BREAKFAST 8:45am-9:00am WELCOME & PROGRAM INTRODUCTIONS Marc Di Francisco, President & CEO, Premier Event Management Jennie Zamberlan, 2013 President, NEOSIM Salon II-III Marc Di Francisco 9:00am-10:00am Salon II-III Mark Smith 10:00am-10:45am 10:45am-11:45am Session 1 Salon I Jack D. Nichelson Session 2 Salon IV Lt. Col. Patrick Barnett 4 Day 1: June 11th Jennie Zamberlan OPENING KEYNOTE – “THE ROLES OF LEADERSHIP AND TECHNOLOGY IN CREATING HEALTHY CULTURES AND SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES” Presented by: Mark Smith, Partner, Cobalt Group Discussion: In this keynote presentation, Mark will share lessons and principles learned from his experience in leadership roles at Cobalt Group, JumpStart, Progressive, Invacare, and numerous start-ups; and with emphasis on the growth and success of the Cleveland International Film Festival and its impact on the Northeast Ohio community. BREAK – NETWORKING PAVILION “STOP MAKING EXCUSES; IT’S TIME TO OWN YOUR VULNERABILITIES” Presented by: Jack D. Nichelson, CISSP, Dir. of Global Information Security, GrafTech International Holdings, Inc. Discussion: “That vulnerability didn’t get fixed because we did not have budget or resources.” Have you ever heard this excuse, or worse use it yourself to explain why the same vulnerabilities show up in your Pen test each year. Most systems are insecure, not because we don’t know about or understand the vulnerability but because we fail at planning and communicating the solution to address or mitigate the vulnerability. The goal of this talk is to outline small steps that anyone can take to become more project focused on fewer problems and better communicate the results. It’s very easy to let the daily operational stuff consume all of your time and budget. With a little planning and goal setting anyone can quickly check if they are working on what matters or getting sidetracked by noise. “WARRIOR INTEGRATION INTO CORPORATE AMERICA” Presented by: Lt. Colonel Patrick Barnett, Special Operations Commander Discussion: Numerous companies are seeking to hire veterans, often without knowing the benefits of what they bring to the corporate table. Most HR departments and hiring agents know to hire these men and women for commonly overused terms like Leadership or Execution. This breakout is a 45 minute session that breaks down the tangible assets the modern day warrior can bring to your firm. Stress Inoculation, Force Multiplication, Core Competency Integration, and a mission planning process very similar to Six Sigma are daily tools used by veterans available for employment through Darkhorse Benefits. These traits have fielded a US Military force of highly technical warriors, each should be fully understood to leverage their true capabilities. Included in this briefing are methods to leverage these same tools within your existing non-military operators as well. Day 1: Continued 12:00pm-1:00pm Session 1 Salon I Janet Vargas “SHOULD YOU TRUST THE CLOUD?” Presented by: Janet Vargas, Manager Sales Engineering, Mimecast Panelists: Ned Sherry, Director IT, Kinetico Patrick Wischmeier, Director IS, The Gorman-Rupp Co. Whitney Kuszmaul, Director IT, The Cleveland Indians Ned Sherry Patrick Wischmeier Whitney Kuszmaul Discussion: For many IT departments, “the cloud” has been a great way to lower IT infrastructure costs. Moving your email management to the cloud can be the first step - but what are the risks? More importantly, how does cloud security affect email? The panelists will discuss key issues and questions that IT managers should ask when considering the cloud, focusing specifically on email management. Session 2 “IT TRANSFORMATION TRENDS - DRIVING FINANCIAL BENEFITS/INCREASING OPERATIONS EFFICIENCY” Moderated by: Dr. Narayanan (“KK”) Krishnakumar, Chief IT Architect, EMC Corporation Panelists: Brian McDonald, Director IS Infrastructure, The Lubrizol Corporation Ted Rogers, Director, Global Applications & Architecture, The Timken Company Salon IV Dr. Narayanan Krishnakumar Brian McDonald Discussion: Many IT organizations are on a journey of transformation, driven by many reasons including: financial benefits, increased operations efficiency, better user productivity, or in being a “business” accelerator. The panelists will discuss the trends they have been observing in the industry, what techniques and approaches they have adopted to enable their own transformations, and what benefits they have achieved or hope to achieve. 1:00pm-2:30pm Salon II-III Brian Kelley LUNCHEON KEYNOTE – “BUSINESS ALIGNMENT THROUGH IT INNOVATION” Moderated by: Brian Kelley, CIO, Portage County Panelists: Michael Kalman, CIO, Hartville Group Tom Countryman, CIO, Davey Tree Dan Muller, SVP & CIO, The Timken Company Michael Kalman Dan Muller Discussion: In today’s economic environment aligning IT and business goals can be challenging. The panel will discuss how alignment works within their organizations; the elements of economic conditions; project justifications; and how budget constraints impact business decisions and their relationship with IT. 5 Day 1: Continued 2:30pm-3:00pm 3:00pm-4:00pm Session 1 Salon I Matt French DESSERT – NETWORKING PAVILION “STOP TALKING ABOUT IT TRANSFORMATION. DO IT.” Moderated by: Matt French, Head of Executive Relations, ServiceNow Panelists: Paul O’Donoghue, VP IT, Forest City Tom Tabor, Dir. Infrastructure, JMC Steel Dan Mize, Sr. Manager IT Services & Engineering, Invacare Corporation Paul O’Donoghue Tom Tabor Dan Mize Discussion: Business cannot operate efficiently without IT. Tto become the backbone of the modern enterprise, IT must change – dramatically. Join Paul O’Donoghue, Vice President of IT at Forest City Enterprises, Inc., Tom Tabor, Director of Infrastructure at JMC Steel, Dan Mize, Senior Manager of IT Services and Engineering at Invacare Corporation and Matt French, Head of Executive Relations at ServiceNow as they describe their IT transformation journey. Attend this session to learn about their roadmap for success, the role of cloud computing, and their vision for the future of IT. Session 2 Salon IV John Hudson “CYBER SECURITY THREATS: WHY WE ARE LOSING (AND PROBABLY DON’T KNOW IT)” Presented by: John Hudson, Security & Strategy Practice Director, Plus Consulting Discussion: Cyber Security has evolved from a function of the Information Technology department to a strategic initiative owned and supported by senior executives and governing boards of organizations. Yet most organizations either willingly ignore the challenge, or push it down the organizational chart to the point where it is ineffective. Rather than highlight the newest threats and the latest security appliances to combat them, this presentation will concentrate on the real issues affecting most organizations. This presentation is based upon Mr. Hudson’s years of helping organizations structure their response to the evermore complex, targeted, and profitable world of hackers, crackers, organized crime, and state-sponsored threats. Ask yourself, “If I received an email from a hacker stating that they have my high-value data – would I really know if they do?” If you cannot answer this, you do not have a continuous security program – and should attend this session to get started! 4:15pm-5:30pm Salon II-III Ann Schatz 5:30pm-7:00pm 6 FEATURED CLOSING KEYNOTE – “FOLLOW THE LEADER: THE BALANCE OF POWER & PROGRESS” Presented by: Ann Schatz, Sports Broadcaster & Motivational Speaker Discussion: At the heart of every great leader is an openness to learn and to be led. At the heart of every success story in team athletics is a dynamic coach who embraces those same vital principals. That coach, that leader, asks questions, invites feedback, and encourages greatness. Join Ann in this fast paced session that reveals the genius behind inspired action and personal triumphs. Who knew board rooms and locker rooms had so much in common? EXECUTIVE RECEPTION – NETWORKING PAVILION Admittance by Conference Badge. Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be served.
