Artwork Specifications
DIGITAL REQUIREMENTS:
• For best offset reproduction, ask your account
executive for a copy of our Print Specifications Guide
or download this info at www.courant.com/printspecs
• CTNOW supports a variety of software programs (e.g.
Quark, Multi-Ad and InDesign).
• Files should be Macintosh compatible and
composed in a layout program capable of producing
4-color separations CMYK. All color files/art received
in RGB format will be converted to CMYK. • PC
created files should be in a PDF format with properly
embedded fonts.
• Fonts are required to print the document. We do not
recommend true type fonts.
• Final proof prints of document, special instructions
and contact information must accompany disks.
• These files require preparation for inserting into our
electronic workflow therefore ad materials received in
this fashion must follow the closing times noted and
should not be categorized as Plate Ready.
ELECTRONIC DELIVERY SERVICES:
• CTNOW does not accept email as a source of ad
delivery. Advertising materials may be uploaded
in PDF or zipped native documents free of charge
throughthe Hartford Courant’s ad delivery system.

• Other methods of electronic delivery supported by
CTNOW include: Ad Direct (www.addirect.com), Ad

A • Contract advertising and the applicable contract rate is governed by the advertising
contract as executed by the advertiser and the Publisher. The Publisher reserves the right
to cancel the advertising contract at any time due to failure to adhere to payment terms.
B • Publisher reserves the right to change the rates stipulated herein at any time on thirty
(30) days prior written notice.
C • All display advertisements are measured and billed in modular ad size units. Please ask
your account executive for the correct modular ad sizes.
D • Payment terms are net 20 days from billing date.
E • All payments due Publisher must be paid in U.S. Dollars. For your convenience we
accept the following credit cards.

F • The word “Advertisement” (in 10 pt. type, Century Bold 350), to indicate paid
advertising, will be printed across top of each column of any advertisement resembling
news or editorial content.
G • The Publisher reserves the right to revise or reject any advertisement. Only publication
of the advertisement shall constitute acceptance of the advertisement. Errors within an
advertisement should be reported immediately. Claims made by advertisers more than
thirty (30) days after the date of publication may be refused. The Publisher shall not be
responsible for the omission, in whole or in part, of any advertisement or for any
typographical or other error. The Publisher’s liability shall be limited to the amount paid
by the advertiser for the first insertion only and in no event shall the Publisher be liable for
consequential damages of any kind. Every effort will be made to meet reasonable position
requests. Failure to meet position request will not constitute cause for adjustment, refund
or rerun. No order will be accepted on a “position or omit” basis.
H • Advertiser shall be responsible for any applicable sales tax.
I • The Publisher does not accept assignment of payment responsibility by either an
advertiser or agency without the Publisher’s approval.
J • Advertiser shall be solely responsible for thorough review of the contents of the rate
card and for the selection of the appropriate rate and program for which they qualify.
K • Any dispute regarding any item shown on the statement/invoice is waived by
advertiser unless made within 30 days after the invoice date.
L • courant.com and its affiliated websites – The advertiser expressly waives any liability of
the Publisher, including without limitation, any liability for damages caused or allegedly
caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect,
delay and operation of transmission communication line failure, theft or destruction of
or unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of records, whether for breach of contract,
tortuous behavior, negligence, or for any other cause of action.
M1 • Retail rate eligibility: Retail rates apply to advertisers who sell retail- oriented goods
and services to the public through one (or more) retail store locations in Connecticut;
Hampshire and Hampden counties, Massachusetts. This rate card also applies to
Connecticut-based arts organizations, educational institutions, civic organizations and
banks with headquarters in Connecticut and less than 25 branch locations.
M2 • Local General and Co-op rate eligibility: The local general rate applies to non-retail
companies with operations located in Connecticut. All media, financial investment firms,
health maintenance organizations, health care, utilities, insurance, banks with corporate
headquarters outside of Connecticut, industrial, itinerant vendors, entertainment,
office equipment, pet supply, national automotive, auto association, statewide and
U.S. Congressional political campaigns, telecommunications, transportation, tourism
and resort categories who meet these standards will qualify for this rate. These rates
also include Co-op and dealer list advertising. Local General and Co-op rates are
commissionable.
