Hardy Brown College Prep’s Parent Newsletter Week 7-September 28th-October 2nd, 2015 Newsletter created by Ms. Allen Parenthood Meeting Update Ms. Gracia’s First Grade class was dressed to impress during our “Swagtastic Dress Wednesdays” last week. They earned an ice cream party. This photo was taken after our dress Wednesday. Our first Parenthood Meeting of the school year was last Thursday, September 24th. Thank you to all the families that came out to support our school. I didn’t get the opportunity to announce the raffle drawing winners, therefore, I would like to do so in this newsletter.☺ Congratulations to……Paulina Walker and Ishmael Berry. Please see Mrs. Pelt, Assistant Principal of Business and Operations to collect your $25 Visa gift card. Our next Parenthood Meeting will be on October 29th. Hope to see you all there! Location: Multi-Purpose Room Time: 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Jamba Juice Fundraisers We will continue to have Jamba Juice fundraisers throughout the school year. The reason for the fundraiser is to help 8th grade go to Washington DC for their graduating trip. This trip will be continuous for each 8th grade graduating class at HBCP. Let’s help our 8th grade scholars go to Washington DC! Our next Jamba Juice Fundraiser is this Wednesday, September 30th at 2:15 p.m. A 2nd grade scholar teaching a mini lesson. 190 Carousel Mall San Bernardino, CA 92401 Hardy Brown College Prep page 2 Parent/Family Corner Character Counts-Citizenship! Our families LOVE HBCP and we Every two months we focus on one of the character traits for “Character Counts” to build character and positivity. The last two months (AugustSeptember) our scholars have been learning about the Character Counts pillar “Citizenship.” Teacher Leaders sent me a list of scholars who should earn an award for being a great citizen during the months of August and September. We have 217 scholars who will receive a “Citizenship” award, Citizenship wristband and Hardy Bucks! If you see an award come home with your scholar, please congratulate them for a job well done. The next Character Counts pillar we will focus on is “Respect” for the months of October-December. love our families! Mr. Jones is a parent at HBCP. He has two sons that attend our school. Many mornings he volunteers to be the cross guard in the morning to ensure our scholars and families safely cross and enter our school grounds. Thank you for volunteering. HBCP loves our volunteers! Upcoming Events at HBCP School Site Council Meeting • September 28th at 4 p.m. Bullying Prevention Month • Month of October SBAC Scores rd th Scholars in grades 3 -7 participated in the state testing for Common Core last school year (in May). This test is called the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium). Beginning this week, all test scores will be mailed home to each scholar’s residence for scholars who were in grades 3rd-7th last school year. An upcoming parent meeting in regards to the SBAC scores will be coming soon. More details to come soon.
