THE 1981
GARAGE
CREW
It began in 1981, when the founders Patrik
Söderlund and Stefan Cederberg started to
make snowboards in their parents’ garage in
Östersund, Sweden. They had picked up the
signals of what was going on in the US and soon
they started to experiment with snowboard
manufacturing. The families’ garages were
turned into an inventor’s workshop with a lot of
ideas and creativity. In 1993 Extrem Snowboards
of Scandinavia was founded and the tiny garage
was changed into a larger factory building.
The growth came quickly and very soon Extrem
became one of the most selling snowboard brands
in Sweden. In 1998 the company started to make
skis under the same brand, which were then the
first Swedish made alpine skis in 25 years.
Today, only skis are manufactured and sold
under brand name Extrem.

LEFT THE
GARAGE, KEPT
THE SOUL
After having been owned by a Norwegian
outdoor group for four years, Extrem was
repurchased by the founders and three new
investors in 2011. The company is now called Åre
Skidfabrik (Åre Ski Factory) and is Scandinavia’s
only alpine ski factory, where Extrem is
a wholly owned brand.
Most of the machinery is from 2009,
when large investments were made in the factory.
The choice of machinery has been made by the
requirement to produce skis with very high
quality and with flexible production. In addition
to the modern machinery, the employees have
long experience from building high quality skis,
suitable for all kind of skiing. The product
development is to a large extent still managed
by the founders.

SLOPE PERFORMANCE
SKI RANGE
2016—2017
PT 84
For skiers who want playful performance whether it is
icy pre-season, newly groomed corduroy or spring snow
conditions. The all-mountain tip and tail rocker makes the
skis turn effortlessly on hard packed, as well as floating on
all soft snow. The construction with Swedish birch wood
core/poplar wood core, reinforced with double layers of titanal
and dampening rubber membranes, gives all-mountain piste
skis with incredibly sharp performance to have fun with on
the entire mountain.

ALL-MOUNTAIN PERFORMANCE
PROJECT 90/100
The successors to the award winning model Project 100, which was ”Praised as the best
all-mountain ski that Åka Skidor has ever tested, and that says a lot” (test review on
Gold Winning Project 100, Åka Skidor #6 2012).
For this year with a new construction, a new shape and a more narrow version. Developed
to conquer all demanding Scandinavian snow conditions – icy pre-season slopes, wind packed
off-piste as well as those magic spring snow days in April. Both models have inherited the
performance and superb edge grip of the original Project 100, but with the new construction
and shape we have added a big portion of playfulness.
The elliptic tip and tail rocker adds floatation in the soft snow, at the same time as it
becomes easy to ski on the hard packed. The construction with a wood core, reinforced
with double layers of titanal and race dampening rubber membranes makes the skis
stable and the skier confident.

FREERIDE PERFORMANCE
THE WORLD’S
FIRST COMMUNITYDEVELOPED SKI
OPINION
The Opinion-series is optimized to float in powder and to rule in slush and soft snow, but also to
ski with plenty of pressure on the slopes.
The harmonious tapered tip and tail, combined with a low-rise rocker profile, has created a range
that is a delight to spend time with in all types of snow conditions. The skis are playful and easy to
manoeuvre, yet full of performance on hard packed. Constructed with snappy poplar wood and
stable beech wood, in combination with the ultra-light aerospace material Tubecomb in tip and
tail for minimal swing weight.
The 88 mm waist is a piste ski disguised as an all-mountain ski. Or is it an all-mountain ski
disguised as a piste ski? Anyway, it does both with perfection.
With the 98 mm waist you will have a playful and super quick edge-to-edge all-mountain tool that
carves perfectly on corduroy.
The 108 mm version is a versatile one-quiver model for freeriders that use the skis every day,
everywhere – regardless of snow conditions.
Opinion 118 are true freeride skis optimized for all off-piste conditions out there – powder,
tracked powder, spring snow, wind packed, crust – you name it and Opinion 118 will conquer it.

OPINION 108 CHARGER
This is truly a modern charger with its playful shape and high-performance
titanal construction. Exactly the same geometry as the normal Opinion 108,
but designed for freeskiers who want a ski with more power.
With two layers of titanal, race rubber dampening and poplar wood core it has
a race ski edge grip and kills altitude meters more effective than any other ski
on the market — no matter if it is icy, wind packed or powder.
The Opinion Charger is a collab project with the Swedish freeski legend
Sverre Liliequist, who has skied the Opinion range for two years. The new
Charger construction fits him like a glove and therefore we have made
a unique collab design.

OPINION CARBON2
Based on the same geometry as the normal Opinion models, but with an ultra-light pre-preg
Carbon2 construction. This gives a freeride-oriented touring ski with focus on playful performance
regardless of snow conditions. The skis are a delight to spend time with in both powder and spring
snow, and despite the very low weight the skis are both super stable and quick from edge to edge
on hard packed.
The Carbon2 is the flagship construction in the Extrem Skis range with two full diecut layers of
pre-preg carbon fiber and pre-preg glass fiber. In order to further decrease the weight, and increase
performance, a very advanced hybrid core consisting of poplar, bamboo and Isocore foam is used
together with the ultra-light aerospace material Tubecomb in tip and tail for lowest possible
swing weight.
